Nine new FPOs to be set up in Kurnool district

  • The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned Rs.102 lakh for setting up nine new Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in the district. Two of them would be promoting fisheries for the first time in Kurnool.

Vizianagaram gets a Butterfly Park

  • A newly-built Butterfly Park and a Turtle Interpretation Centre at the Forest Department office opened at Vizianagaram.

Assam CM flags off first international flight connecting Guwahati, Dhaka

  • Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off the first international flight connecting Guwahati and Dhaka at Borjahr airport in Guwahati. Mr. Sonowal said that the Centre has boosted the connectivity of the North East region. The Assam Government has committed 100 crore rupees per year for three years under viability gap funding. Another flight connecting Guwahati-Bangkok is also likely to be started in the next few months along with flights to Kathmandu, Yangon, Hanoi and Kuala Lumpur.

Skill development training programme starts in Bongaigaon for jail inmates

  • In Assam, a three month skill development training programme has been started in Bongaigaon district for the jail inmates. The programme aims at providing opportunities for the prison inmates to engage themselves in fruitful pursuits during the term of their sentence. Besides the main objective, the course is expected to enhance the employability potential of the prisoners after their release.

ARUNACHAL PRADESH

CCEA approves 2880 MW Dibang Project in Arunachal Pradesh

  • Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA has approved 2880 Megawatt Dibang Multipurpose Project in Arunachal Pradesh at the cost of 1600 crore rupees. Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said, this will be the highest dam in the country with a height of 278 metres, once completed.

‘Clean-Green Arunachal Campaign 2019’

  • Chief Minister Pema Khandu launched the statewide tree plantation programme ‘Clean-Green Arunachal Campaign 2019’ in Itanagar. Mr. Khandu said that the campaign is being held as part of Van Mahotsav celebration and has set the target of planting 1 Crore tree within the next five years.

JAMMU & KASHMIR

Defence Minister inaugurates two bridges in J&K

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated 1000 meter long Ujh Bridge in Kathua district and 617.40-meter Basantar Bridge in samba district

Operation Khumaar

  • In Jammu and Kashmir a campaign has been launched in Rajouri, a border district of Jammu division called “Operation Khumaar” to make 312 panchayats tobacco-free. The programme is run by the district administration to make panchayats free from tobacco and tobacco-based products. District Development Commissioner, Rajouri convened a meeting of officers in this regard and gave necessary directions.

3502 projects sanctioned under PMGSY-Phases I to XII in J&K

  • Under the centrally sponsored scheme of Prime Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) 3502 projects with a total length of 19700 Kms to connect 2214 habitations has been sanctioned under PMGSY-Phases I to XII in Jammu and Kashmir State.

Anganwadi Centres to get transformed into Model Community facilities

  • Jammu and Kashmir Government rolled out an ambitious plan to transform the Anganwadi Centres into state-of-the-art Model Community Facilities for children and mothers in the State. In the first phase, 50 existing Anganwadi Centres in each district would be transformed through convergence with MGNREGA into Model Anganwadi Centres

 Most common traditional systems of water conservation

  • Madaka was one of the most common traditional systems of water conservation followed in coastal Karnataka. It was a unique traditional practice where a large body of water was collected on the sloppy terrain where there is a huge catchment, but by constructing a bund on one side; natural boundaries were created to hold water.

Adiya Tribesmen begin ‘Naduzhiyal’

  • The Adiya tribesmen in Wayanad have started to perform ‘Naduzhiyal’ as part of their ritualistic art form ‘Nadugaddhika’ in villages of the hill district for the prosperity of the public. The ritual usually starts after the Vaishakha festival at the Mahadeva temple at Kottiyoor in Kannur district.

Kerala government to set up elephant rehabilitation centre

  • The Kerala government would set up a first-of-its-kind elephant rehabilitation centre at an outlay of Rs. 105 crore, to take care of elephants that were either orphaned or abandoned. The rehabilitation centre would house an elephant museum, mahout training centre, a well-equipped veterinary hospital and crematorium for the elephants.

 Restoration of Ghodbunder Fort

  • The restoration of the 18th century Ghodbunder Fort in Thane, built by the Portuguese, will start next month and likely be completed by 2020. Under the state’s adopt a monument scheme, the fort has been adopted by the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation, which will also oversee the job of restoring the fort.
  • The fort was built by the Portuguese in 1730 and was later captured by the Marathas under the leadership of Chimaji Appa in 1737. The fort was in the hands of the Marathas till the British captured it in 1818 to make it the headquarters of the district administration for the East India Company. The fort got its name through its trade of horses.

Maharashtra government hikes compensation for kin of Jawans killed in line of duty

  • Maharashtra government has decided to increase the compensation from 25 lakh to one crore rupees for families of security personnel hailing from the state who lay down their lives in the line of duty. The Cabinet also decided to raise the allowances for special teachers attached with the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan by 1500 rupees, taking it to 21,500 rupees. The decision will benefit over 1900 teachers.

 Madhya Pradesh to produce its own seeds soon

  • In Madhya Pradesh, along with distribution and marketing of certified and high quality seeds to farmers, the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Seed Federation will produce seeds too. The brand name of seeds will be ‘Sah-Beej’. A plan has been made to produce seeds from the next Rabi season.

1st international flight from Indore leaves for Dubai

  • In Madhya Pradesh, the first international flight from Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar International Airport of Indore left for Dubai with 153 passengers on board. The non-stop flight has fulfilled a long-standing desire from the travel fraternity and tourists for direct connectivity to the Gulf.

Madhya Pradesh to start ‘housing project’ for stray cows

  • As part of ‘Project Gaushala’, the Madhya Pradesh State government plans to move 7 lakh stray cows and bulls to shelters close to villages. 1,000 shelters to come up in Madhya Pradesh to accommodate 7 lakh animals

RAJASTHAN

5th and 6th Unit of Chabra Super Critical Thermal Power Station

  • In Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot inaugurated 5th and 6th Unit of Chabra Super Critical Thermal Power Station this afternoon. This is the state’s First project based on Super Critical Thermal Power Technology and the estimated cost of this project is 9 thousand 550 Crore Rupees.

Kalu Police station bags 1st Rank in assessment by Home ministry

  • In Rajasthan, Kalu police station in the Bikaner district has set an example towards crime control and preventive action. Kalu Police station recently bagged First Rank in an assessment by the Home ministry of 15 thousand 666 police stations across the country.

WEF Centre, Telangana govt set to send medical supplies via drones

  • Telangana Government and the World Economic Forum’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Network announced that they are set to launch an innovative project to deliver emergency medical supplies such as blood and vaccines via drones. It will help facilitate decision-making in healthcare supply chains, focus on last-mile deliveries and address issues that affect the medical distribution system.

NSG facility at CCMB

  • Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr Harsh Vardhan inaugurated the Next Generation Sequencing (NSG) facility at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology in Hyderabad. The facility includes technology for high genome sequencing and also diagnostic sequencing of clinical samples.

UTTAR PRADESH

Two Skill Centre of Excellence (CoE)s

  • In a strategic meeting between Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Shri Yogi Adityanath, Honourable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, in Lucknow, a joint decision was made to set-up two Skill Centre of Excellence (CoEs) – one in Greater Noida for Plumbing and one in Varanasi for the Services Sector.

UP becomes No. 1 in implementation of Pradhanamntri Suraksha Beema Yojna

  • Uttar Pradesh has become number one in implementation of Pradhanamntri Suraksha Beema Yojna in the country. As per the statement released by state government 1.95 crores people have been given insurance cover under the scheme till 31 march 2019.

WEST BENGAL

West Bengal government observes Save Water Day

  • West Bengal government observed Save Water Day on July 12,2019. West Bengal Chief Minister said that her government started a programme of digging ponds throughout the state for conservation of water since coming into power in 2011. About 3 lakhs ponds have been dug till now to deal with the water scarcity.

Bardhaman railway station to be named after Batukeshwar Dutt

  • The Bardhaman railway station in West Bengal will be named after revolutionary freedom fighter Batukeshwar Dutt. The freedom fighter who was born in the district arrested along with Bhagat Singh after throwing bombs in the National assembly in Delhi.
