Rythu Bharosa programme

  • ‘Rythu Bharosa’ programme is to be launched on October 15. The Rythu Bharosa programme, will be implemented at a cost of Rs.13,125 crore. Under the scheme, all farmers (including tenant farmers) will get Rs.12,500 a year as an incentive or input subsidy before the sowing (rabi and kharif) seasons begin.

Assam’s first-ever CNG fuelling station

  • Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the state’s first-ever CNG fuelling station in Dibrugarh. He said that the government is preparing a roadmap for setting up CNG fuelling station in all districts to make the state free from air pollution and to promote the use of clean and green fuel.

National Green Tribunal seeks eco-sensitive zone tag for Assam wetland Deepor Beel

  • The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Assam government to declare the area around Deepor Beel a major wetland on the western edge of Guwahati an eco-sensitive zone. Deepor Beel is an ‘Important Bird Area’ and a Ramsar Site, with a reserve forest nearby.Eco-sensitive zone entails declaring up to 10 km around a protected area a buffer zone and restricting industrial and other human activities.

Assam government to make 200 Foreigners Tribunals operational from Sep 1

  • Additional Chief Secretary of the Home and Political department Kumar Sanjay Krishna said that 200 Foreigners Tribunals will become functional from 1st of September in Assam. He said, if someone’s name doesn’t appear in the NRC, he or she can appeal before the Foreigners Tribunals. Mr Krishna said that Tribunals are expected to dispose off the appeal within 60 days.

Arunachal Home Minister flags off riot control vehicle ‘Vajra’

  • Arunachal Pradesh State Home Minister Bamang Felix flagged of Five Anti-Riot police vehicle, also known as Vajra, from Police Headquarter in Itanagar. This is the first set of anti-riot vehicles introduced in the state police department.

ollongi Airport will be completed by March 31, 2022

  • Union Minister of Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri announced that the Hollongi Airport in Itanagar will be completed by March 31, 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Greenfield Airport at Hollongi near Itanagar on 9th of February this year.

Chhattisgarh govt to launch free food scheme to combat malnutrition, anaemia

  • The Chhattisgarh government has announced that it will launch a scheme that will provide “free nutritious food” to those that suffer from malnutrition and anaemia in the state on a daily basis. The scheme would first be launched on October 2, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, and would extend to the ten “aspirational districts in the state”.

15-km long national flag unfurled in Raipur

  • In Chhattisgarh, thousands of students and members of several social organisations unfurled a 15-km long national flag by forming a human chain in Raipur ahead of the Independence day. The event, organised by Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam Foundation, entered the Champions Book of World Records (for the longest tricolour).

India’s first garbage cafe to be opened in Ambikapur

  • In a unique initiative, the Ambikapur municipal corporation of Chhattisgarh, will open a first-of-its-kind ‘Garbage Cafe’ within a few days. This initiative is a step towards making the city plastic-free.
  • In this unique Cafe’ poor people and rag pickers will get free food in exchange for one kilogram of plastic, while breakfast will be provided if half a kilogram of plastic is brought to the cafe.

  • Union Minister of Textiles and Women and Child Development, Smriti Zubin Irani, inaugurated Textiles Gallery at National Crafts Museum in New Delhi. The Gallery consists of more than 230 different types oftextiles collections divided into categories of over more than 30 traditions.

Watan a patriotic song by DD was released by Shri Prakash Javadekar

  • Union Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar released patriotic song “Watan” produced by Doordarshan to mark the occasion of Independence Day, 2019 in New Delhi. The song pays tribute to New India. It highlights several path breaking initiatives of the government including the determination and vision behind the recent successful launch of “Chandrayaan 2”.

India’s Largest Rural Sanitation Survey Launched

  • Jal Shakti Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched the Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2019 (SSG 2019) in the capital. To be instituted from August 14 to September 30, 2019, SSG 2019 will cover 17,450 villages in 698 districts across India and include 87,250 public places namely schools, anganwadi centers, public health centres, haat/bazaars/religious places, making it India’s largest rural sanitation survey.

Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi to be renamed as Arun Jaitley Stadium

  • Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi will be renamed as Arun Jaitley Stadium in memory of its former president who passed away recently. During his tenure at DDCA, Arun Jaitley is credited with renovating Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium into a modern facility, increasing its capacity to accommodate more fans besides constructing world-class dressing rooms.

49th Foundation Day of BPRD

  • Union Minister of Home Affairs, Shri Amit Shah, presided over the 49th Foundation Day of Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD) as Chief Guest in New Delhi on August 28.Shri Shah unveiled the Golden Jubilee Logo of BPRD in the function. 10 Task Forces formed to formulate New Industrial Policy

  • Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has formed 10 Task Forces to examine, review and suggest inputs for formulating New Industrial Policy of the state. The present Industrial Policy of the state was implemented in 2015. The Task Force Committee will be headed by Chief Secretary JN Singh.

  • Union Minister of State for Chemical & Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya has announced that the first Central Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (CICET) will be set up in Gujarat.

‘Purna’ project

  • Gujarat’s Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had also launched ‘Purna’ project to eliminate malnutrition among the girls in the age group of 14 to 18. PURNA project is also known as Prevention of under Nutrition and Reduction of Nutritional Anaemia among Adolescent Girls.

HM to flag off first fleet of eco-friendly electric buses in Ahmedabad

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah flagged off the first fleet of eco-friendly electric buses in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He also inaugurated the country’s first automated battery charging and swapping station for e-buses in Ahmedabad. Amit Shah also flagged off 18 electric buses with a facility of battery swap technology.

Indian Army establishes 45 Army Goodwill schools in J&K

  • In Jammu and Kashmir, as a part of this goodwill initiative, the Indian Army has established 45 Army Goodwill schools in J&K wherein over 14 thousand students are studying at present. In these Army Goodwill Schools, children belonging to low-income group families are given admission for pursuing their studies free of cost.

  • Deputy Commissioner M. Deepa formally launched the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department’s Varsha Dhare cloud seeding project at Hubballi International Airport. The three-month-long project is aimed augmenting rainfall in North Karnataka.

Tree census in Mysuru soon

  • The Forest Department is set to roll out the first-ever tree census within the next few weeks to estimate the tree numbers and ensure their protection, to shore up the green cover of the city. The census will give the authorities a baseline data of the number of trees and also help assess the extent of green cover in Mysuru.

  • The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on Friday declared areas around Tungareshwar and Tansa wildlife sanctuaries in Maharashtra as eco sensitive zones (ESZ). The basic aim is to regulate certain activities around national parks and wildlife sanctuaries to minimise negative impact on the fragile eco system around.

Bunker museum at Maharashtra

  • President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated an underground Bunker Museum at Raj Bhavan Mumbai. The thematic underground bunker museum spread over an area of 15,000 sq.ft. will be opened for the general public through prior online booking later during the year.

Maharashtra Transport Minister launches live tracking system for MSRTC buses

  • Maharashtra Transport Minister Diwakar Raote launched a tracking system for MSRTC buses which will allow people to have real-time information about their commute. The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has over 18,000 buses in its fleet and carries more than 67 lakh passengers daily, he informed.

  • The Government has taken a conscious decision to establish an International Standard Zoo and Biopark on the forest land at Gorewada, Nagpur.  Expressing India’s continued commitment towards protecting forests and wildlife, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Prakash Javadekar stated, “The Zoo will have attractions like Bio Park, Indian Safari, African Safari, Night Safari, Research, Education and Training, facilities for tourists, etc”.

With its name in the Asia Book of Records, it would be the third entry for the museum in record books. Rajasthan Assembly passes bills to curb honour killings and Mob Lynching

  • Rajasthan legislative assembly passed two important bills to curb honour killings and Mob Lynching in the state, ‘The Rajasthan Protection from Lynching Bill, 2019’ and ‘The Rajasthan Prohibition of Interference with the Freedom of Matrimonial Alliances in the Name of Honour and Tradition Bill, 2019’ were passed by the assembly by a voice vote.

Ring well unearthed at Keezhadi

  • Nearly 45 days after the fifth phase of excavation commenced at Keezhadi, a ring well has been unearthed.The rings, measuring 1.5 feet in diameter, are made of terracotta, and five rings are visible now. The ring well is an indicator of the advanced water conservation technology of that period.

  • The famous Palani panchamirtham, given as ‘prasadam’ at the Murugan temple there, has been granted the Geographical Indication (GI) tag. This is the first time a temple ‘prasadam’ from Tamil Nadu has been bestowed with the GI tag.

  • The Education Department in Tamil Nadu has launched an exclusive 24-hour television channel for the school students. Interviews and motivational programmes on joining civil services, defence forces and banks would be aired by the television as a form of career guidance.

First electric bus in Chennai

  • The first electric bus in Chennai has been flagged off by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy. It is being operated on a trial basis from the Central Railway Station to Tiruvanmiyur, four trips a day. The fully air-conditioned bus has 32 seats. It has inbuilt features like GPS and fire detection and suppression system. It can be monitored remotely by transport officials.

  • The Dindigul lock and the Kandangi saree were given the GI tag by the Geographical Indications Registry in Chennai. “Dindigul lock and Kandangi saree were registered ,” Chinnaraja G. Naidu, Deputy Registrar of Geographical Indications said that both these products were losing their sheen in the market, and the GI tag would help them get some recognition.
