School Bag Weight Should Not Be More Than 15% of Student’s Bodyweight – State Issued Guidelines: The Karnataka state government has commenced the schools for students after the summer vacation amid the heat waves across the state. Now the state has issued an important guideline for the students and education department.

The government has urged the schools to follow that maximum allowed weight of the school bags should not be more than 15% of the student’s body weight. This circular was issued by the department of the school education and literacy and all the officials of the block levels are instructed to ensure the guidelines.
According to the report, for classes 1 to 2 student’s bag weight should be 1.5 to 2 Kg, for classes 3 to 5 student’s bag weight should be 2 to 3 Kg, for classes 6 to 8, 3 to 4 Kg, and for class 9 to 10, 4 to 5 Kg. This circular was issued based on Dr. VP Niranjanaradhya committee’s recommendation. The state schools also planned to celebrate the “No Bag Day” once in a week.
