SC Decision on UGC Guidelines for Final Year Exam 2020. New Delhi, Online Desk. SC judgment on UGC guidelines for final year examination, the Supreme Court is expected to bring a decision on the petition challenging the orders of the University Grants Commission for the final year or semester examinations of the universities. The trial of this case was completed in the Supreme Court on August 18, 2020 and the judgment was set aside by the court.

The case was heard by Supreme Court Judge Ashok Bhushan Judge R. Subhash Reddy and Judge MR. Shaw’s bench is made. During the final hearing on Tuesday, the bench gave all parties three days to submit their final arguments in writing. The time limit granted by the Supreme Court Bench to all parties. After that, the decision regarding the final year or semester exams is expected to be heard today August 24th.

Preliminary and final hearings were held on August 18 on various petitions against the UGC ordering on July 30 to hold the final year or semester examinations of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in universities and other institutions of higher learning by September 30. In various states – Maharashtra, West Bengal, Delhi and Odisha were also heard as the governments of these states decided to cancel the elections. During the UGC hearing, it was stated that the decisions of these states were against the legal rights of the Commission.

Thirty-one students from universities in various states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Assam have filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the UGC orders, demanding that the Govt conduct examinations during the COVID -19. Students should be notified of passing marks based on their internal assessment and previous years’ average or semester exams. Senior Advocate Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi is representing the students in this petition. At the same time, in another case of Yuvasena related to the same case, senior advocate Shyam Diwan is putting the students’ side.
