RRI invites applications/nominations, from eminent academicians/researchers with substantial experience and achievements in the area of Physical Sciences for the position of Director by Direct Recruitment or Deputation. The Director is the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the Institute and will have the overall administrative control of the Institute and will provide high-level leadership to the Institute in identification of research programmes and projects of national and international relevance in various specialized fields of research undertaken by the Institute. The Director will enthuse and motivate scientists of the Institute, promote creativity and excellence and create an atmosphere conducive to harmonious functioning of the Institute. The Director will interact and establish rapport with national and international academic and professional institutions and specialists dealing with the domain area of research undertaken by the Institute and will ensure multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional cooperation towards fulfillment of the objects of the Institute.

Educational Qualification
Essential
Doctorate in Physical Sciences. Post-Doctoral Research. Original published work of high standard and/or National and International Patents. Desirable: Evidence of high professional eminence by way of recognitions like fellowship of academies and national/international awards in science and technology.
Experience
For Direct Recruitment
At least 25 years of experience in R&D in academic institutions/research institutions (including post-doctoral period) and/or science and technology organisations or as faculty/scientist of recognised national/international universities/research institutes/corporate R&D Labs etc., out of which at least 6 years should be in managerial/administrative capacity for science and technology programmes, planning and development, budget and finance, coordination and such organisational matters. (b) R&D experience in any of the domain area/s of research/activities in Physical Sciences.
For Deputation
Scientists or Technologists, possessing the essential educational qualification and the essential experience mentioned above, working in Central/State Governments/Universities/Recognised Research Institutions/Semi-Government Statutory or Autonomous Organisations in India (a) holding analogous post OR (b) with 1 year regular service in the post in 75500-80000 grade (HAG+) or equivalent OR (c) 3 years regular service in the post in the pay scale of 67000-79000 (HAG) or equivalent OR (d) 7 years of regular service in the post carrying in the pay band of 37400-67000 + Grade Pay of ₹10,000/Level 14 of Pay Matrix of 7th Central Pay Commission or equivalent.
Deputation Period
The incumbent will be appointed on Direct Recruitment/Deputation basis, on a contract basis for maximum of five years or until the age of superannuation, whichever is earlier, as per the Government of India norms. The present age of superannuation is 60 years.
Pay Scale
The position carries the apex scale of pay level 17, i.e. Rs. 2,25,000/- per month as per the Revised Pay Rules, 2016 of the Government of India. The applicant’s/nominee’s age should not exceed 56 years and she/he is an Indian Citizen. The crucial date for determination of age limit is 01st January 2020.
Selection Committee
The Search-cum-Selection Committee will also consider applications and nominations received from Fellows of the Academies, Directors of National Laboratories and Vice Chancellors of Universities. The Search-cum-Selection Committee can consider those who may not have applied for the above post after considering all the applications and nominations and finding that no candidate is suitable. The Search-cum-Selection Committee can also invite a person of high repute for consideration for appointment.
