Ramesh Pokhriyal, the Union Minister for Education, resigned from his role today afternoon, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s major Cabinet reshuffle. Ramesh Pokhriyal, a Member of Parliament representing Haridwar, took office in 2019. Today at 6 p.m, the new cabinet will be announced.

Sanjay Dhotre, Minister of State for Education, and Union Cabinet Minister of State for Woman and Child Development, according to sources, have also resigned from the cabinet.

There is speculation that a few more ministers will be let go as a result of a detailed performance review conducted by the Prime Minister and top leaders in recent weeks. According to sources, the average age will be the lowest ever after the revamp, there will be more women ministers, and those with administrative experience will be given special representation.

Pokhriyal’s last major announcement as the Education Minister came on July 6, when he informed students of fresh dates for the postponed JEE Main exams. Students were expecting him to make an announcement on the medical exam NEET soon.
