The Chief Minister also announced the formation of a monitoring committee, which will be chaired by the Minister of Social Security and Women and Child Development, to assess progress and relief measures in each situation. At least once a month, the committee will meet. Orphans will get assistance until they reach the age of 21, or until they graduate from high school. In addition, the Department of Social Security and Women and Child Development will serve as the nodal department for implementing COVID relief measures.

In the case of families whose breadwinner has died, relief would be granted for a three-year term, after which their condition would be re-evaluated, and if the vulnerability remained, the period might be suitably extended.

Affected people will be eligible for Rs 51,000 under the Ashirwad Scheme, which will begin on July 1st, according to Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. They would be eligible for free rations and coverage under the “Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana” under the state smart ration card programme.  Previously, the Ashirwad Scheme provided a poor family with Rs 51,000 in financial aid for the girl’s marriage, while the ‘Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana’ provides an entitlement-based cashless Health Insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh per family per year.
