Pensioners Benefited More than Central & State Government Employees – CAG data Released!! The central and state government employees are provided with a certain amount of pay along with various benefits like DA, DR, medical insurance, and bonuses. Apart from this, every employee who retires from the government sector gets a salary in the name of a pension.
It has been reported that the pension bill for the pensioners is more than the salary and wages paid to the central government employees and some of the state governments (and UT) employees. According to data from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, the pension bill was higher than the ‘salaries and wages’ expenditure of the central government and three states in 2019-20.
Specifically, the data shows that the recovered expenditure of the central government during these years was Rs.9.78 lakh. Out of this, only Rs 1.39 lakh crore was incurred in salary and wages and Rs 1.83 lakh crore was incurred in pension, the report said. Also, the total expenditure for all states has been calculated as Rs. 12.38 lakh crore. In Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, the pension amount was higher than the salary and wages expenditure, to be noted.
