Nobel Prize in Medicine/Physiology awarded to Swedish Geneticist!!! New Evolution.Svante Paabo, a Swedish scientist, was awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize in Medicine on Monday for his research into the history of the human race.

The Neanderthal, an extinct relative of modern humans, has its DNA sequenced thanks to Svante Paabo’s groundbreaking study, according to a statement from the Nobel committee.

According to the article, Paabo also made the “sensational finding” of the Denisova species of human from a 40,000-year-old finger bone fragment found in Siberia.

Importantly, Paabo discovered that gene transmission from these now extinct hominins to Homo sapiens had taken place after the migration out of Africa some 70,000 years ago, according to the organisation that bestows the awards. “This old genetic flow to modern humans has physiological consequences today, altering, for example, how our immune system responds to illnesses,”

Paabo, a postdoctoral associate from the University of Zurich and the University of California, was born in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1955. He established the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany, in 1999, where he continues to work today.

Sune Bergstrom, who received the 1982 Nobel Prize in Medicine, is the father of the 67-year-old. The first Nobel Prize of the year has been given out. Other prizes are presented in the areas of physics, chemistry, literature, world peace, and economics.

The 10 million Swedish crown ($900,357) Nobel Prize in Medicine is given out by the Nobel Assembly of Sweden’s Karolinska Institute. Dec. 10 will see the awarding of the prizes.

American researchers David Julius and Ardem Patapoutian shared the 2017 Nobel Prize in Medicine for their work identifying the receptors that allow people to perceive touch and temperature.
