‘Moonlighting is not ethical’ – Considers IBM India MD! In recent times, Moonlighting becomes a headache for employers, especially in the IT sector. Because the employees who work in the IT field are adopting another work during their Work From Home period. This considers violating the norms of the companies.
So, India’s second biggest IT firm Infosys warns employees against ‘Moonlighting’, considering this practice an ethical flaw. Moreover, if any employees found on Moonlighting will be fired, Infosys insists. Following this, Sandeep Patel, MD of IBM India, said that Moonlighting is not a valid protocol. That is, ”notwithstanding what they (employees) can do with the rest of their time, it’s not ethical”.
But he noted that all IBM employees had signed contracts for full-time employment. Similarly, Wipro CEO Rishad said he considers Moonlighting to be “cheating – plain and simple”. Meanwhile, other companies have also started warning their employees against moonlighting.
