The union government of the country announced a 27 per cent quota for other backward classes, such as OBCs, and 10 percent for the economically backward, in student enrollment for postgraduate medical studies last year.
Few have filed suit in the Supreme Court against the setting of an income ceiling of Rs 8 lakh for the economically backward sections. At the same time, the medical students had so many obstacles in holding the counseling to get seat of admission.

This petition had been pending in the Supreme Court for the previous two days. Later, while the ending of arguments the bench of judges DY Chandra sooty, A.S the Bopanna session was adjudicated today 7th January.
The Court announced that 27 percent of the All India quota for medical degree courses would go to the OBC section and 10 percent to the economically backward classes. And also the bench of judges reported that a detailed order on the eligibility criteria for getting a 10 percent reservation would be published in the week of March 3rd.
