‘Clean Air India Initiative’ launched

  • The Clean Air India Initiative is a collaborative project between Get In The Ring, a platform for start-ups, the government of the Netherlands, Start-up India, and INDUS Forum, an online matchmaking platform of Indian and Dutch businesses.
  • Prime Minister of Netherlands Mark Rutte launched the ‘Clean Air India Initiative’ to curb air pollution in New Delhi.

  • UNEP teams and experts from Tata Power recently reviewed the State’s plans to retrofit and convert 8,000 State-run buses into battery driven vehicles.
  • The UNEP, Maharashtra government and the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) are slated to sign an MoU on May 31.

  • The share of diesel vehicles in the domestic automobile market is likely to fall below 25% post implementation of BS VI norms, according to research agency ICRA.

Govt hikes customs duty on wheat to 30% to curb cheaper imports

  • The government has raised the customs duty on wheat from 20% to 30% in order to curb cheaper imports and protect domestic growers.
  • The import duty on walnut shell has also been increased from 30% to 100%, according to a late night notification issued by the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC).

SIDBI to extend direct funding facility to Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) in CSCs

  • CSC SPV(Special purpose vehicle) and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) signed an MoU for providing financial support to Common Services Centers (CSCs) across the country, with minimum one year of operation, under the Direct Financing Window of SIDBI.

Haryana signs 2 MoUs for revival of Sarasvati

  • Memorandums of understanding (MoUs) for investigation into the palaeochannel and the study of hydrological aspects relating to the Sarasvati rejuvenation and heritage development projects.

IIT-M inks pact with AAI for research in air navigation systems

  • The Indian Institute of Technology – Madras has signed an MoU with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for research on air navigation systems & will address aviation infrastructure and air traffic management challenges across 125 airports in the country.
