Mid-tier IT giants like LTI, Persistent, and Mindtree are betting big on fresher hires. It is a well-known fact that the percentage of India’s biggest IT businesses has reached an all-time high. As a result of the increase in voluntary job switching and resignations, businesses are facing a severe skills shortage. To deal with the skills shortfall, software giants such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Wipro, and others have increased hiring and given large salaries this year.

Mid-sized IT organisations in India, such as L&T Infotech (LTI), Persistent Systems, Mindtree, and others, are focused on freshers at the same time. To tackle the talent shortage, their three-step plan is to hire, train, and deploy freshers to fulfil their needs.

L&T Infotech has indicated that in order to address the need for specialised talents, the business would not only acquire engineering talent but also non-technical individuals and put them through a six-month training programme.

Sanjay Jalona, CEO of L&T Infotech, said that the company is employing 1,000 more workers on a hire-train-deploy basis.

Similarly, Sandip Kalra, CEO of Persistent Systems, stated that they seek to employ engineers with experience in various fields. Persistent Systems claims that they can train and deploy this type of talent. In the meanwhile, Mindtree is reskilling its personnel and looking for new methods to expand its talent pool.

In opposition to their direct competitors, these mid-sized IT firms are also working on their employer brand to better recruit freshers and lateral workers.
