The Kerala government has announced that it will provide educational expenses and special relief packages to children. Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, has announced that the Kerala government will cover the education expenses of children who lost their parents due to the covid-19 pandemic. As an immediate relief measure, the Kerala government will provide a special package worth Rs 3 lakhs to those affected.

Official Statement:

Kerala’s Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, used his Twitter account to announce that, “Government of Kerala will provide a special package for children who have lost their parents to covid-19. Rs 3 lakh will be given as immediate relief and a monthly sum of rupees 2,000 will be issued till their 18th birthday.”

Rs2000/- Per Month:

  • Officials say that all children who have lost both parents will receive Rs 2000 every month until they reach the age of 18. In addition to academic fees, students will get personal expenses until they graduate from college.
  • Kerala is one of the few states to offer financial assistance or a unique grant to kids whose parents have died as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Before Kerala, numerous state governments had made the decision to grant scholarships or financial aid to children from their respective states.

Other States:

Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Jharkhand had previously stated that they would provide educational opportunities and cover the costs for children who had lost both parents.
