- In the Asia Pacific category, India got 188 votes followed by Fiji with 187 votes, Bangladesh 178, Bahrain and Philippines 165 each.

- Hurricane Leslie is heading toward Portugal and Spain, with forecasters expecting it to bring heavy rains and dangerous winds and surf to parts of the Iberian Peninsula. The Category 1 storm was about 910 km southwest of Lisbon, Portugal, and about 320 km northwest of Madeira

European Parliament backs ban on single-use plastics
