India Russia Riffle Deal: India seals AK-203 assault rifle deal with Russia, AK-203 replaces INSAS used by Indian Army!! Assemble of AK-203 assault rifles will start in India as the union government has given the final detailed announcement to the project. It is a joint deal with Russia. An Indo-Russian crew will be create at Korwa in the Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh to assemble over five lakh AK-203 assault rifles. The 7.62 X 39mm caliber AK-203 rifles will replace the INSAS rifle that was inducted over 30 years back. INSAS is elaborated as Indian Small Arms System.
This is a kind of infantry arms consisting of an assault rifle and a light machine gun like LMG. It was created by the Armament Research and Development Establishment and manufactured by the Ordnance Factories Board at its various factories. The INSAS – Indian Small Arms System assault rifle was the standard infantry weapon of the Indian Armed Forces three decades. The rifle has an effective range of 300 meters. It is lightweight one. They will enhance the operational effectiveness of the Indian Army in Counter Insurgency and Counter-Terrorism operations. According to the plan of center 20,000 rifles will be brought from the country Russia directly and then over 5 lakh will be manufactured in India.
