Charles Babbage Birth Day
Birth :
He was born on December 26, 1791.
- He was an English polymath. A mathematician, philosopher, inventor and mechanical engineer, Babbage originated the concept of a digital programmable computer.
- Charles Babbage, father of computers designed a automatic computing machine . It was a mechanical machine which gave an idea of automatic computation can be done by a machine.
- Babbage began his work in 1822 for the first difference engine made to compute values of polynomial functions. It was created to calculate a series of values automatically by using the method of finite differences.
- Later he designed a analytical engine which is more general purpose computing machine, a implementation of Turing machine which uses punching cards for programming this machine. It also used loops and branching for the programming. He was working on it until his death.
Death :
He was died on October 18, 1871.
Tsunami Day
On December 2004, A tsunami caused by an earthquake under the Indian Ocean killed over 10,000 people in southern Asia, with many more feared dead. Officials in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and India have all reported death tolls in the thousands and the figures are expected to rise sharply over the next few days. Over the next 7 days the death toll rose to more than 216,000 people in 13 countries. At least 128,000 people died in Indonesia alone. This made it one of the worst natural disasters in modern times.
