- Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
- It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network and celebrated in more than 193 countries each year.
- Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin believed & he was disturbed that an issue as important as our environment was not addressed in politics or by the media, so he created the first Earth Day, on April 22, 1970.
- An estimated 20 million people nationwide attended festivities that day.

- The theme for the World Earth day in the year 2018 is “End Plastic Pollution Countdown to April 22”.

- Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov was born on 22 April 1870.

- He was a Russian lawyer, revolutionary, and the leader of the Bolshevik party and of the October Revolution.
- He was the first leader of the USSR and the government that took over Russia in 1917.
- Lenin’s ideas became known as Leninism.
Death:
- He died on 21 January 1924.
