World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day takes place on the 1st December each year. It’s an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. Founded in 1988, World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day. The theme for the 2018 World AIDS Day is “Know your status”.

55th Nagaland Statehood Anniversary programme was held at the Secretariat Plaza, Kohima on December 1, 2018. On this day, in 1963, Nagaland attains its statehood and was declared as the 16th state of the Indian Union.

International Day for the Abolition of Slavery

 The International Day for the Abolition of Slavery is a yearly event on December 2, organized by the United Nations General Assembly of the United Nations Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and of the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others (resolution 317(IV) of 2 December 1949). The Day was first celebrated in 1986.  First country to abolish slavery – 1807, Britain passes Abolition of the Slave Trade Act.

34th SAARC Charter Day

Prime Minister of Nepal K.P.Sharma Oli has greeted member states of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and people of South Asia on the occasion of 34th SAARC Charter Day. SAARC was established with the signing of the SAARC Charter in Dhaka on 8 December 1985. SAARC comprises of eight Member States- Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Every Year 24th December is observed as National Consumer Day with a specific theme in India. On this day the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 had received the assent of the president.
