  • The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the National Highway from Matabari to Sabroom in Udaipur, Tripura.
  • “Queen Pineapple” declared as the state fruit of Tripura.
  • Vizhinjam Bay is home to the smallest sea cucumber in India(which grows to a size of just 2 cm) scientists have reported.
  • A third generation European Pressurised Reactor (EPR) reactor in Taishan, China carried out its first nuclear chain reaction, an initial start up which is a world first for the much-delayed European technology.
  • The monetary policy committee of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decided to hike the repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.25 per cent.
  • India has registered a significant decline in Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) recording a 22-per cent reduction in such deaths since 2013.
  • Ministry of Health and Family Welfare signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Norway to extend the cooperation within health sector from 2018 to 2020.

  • The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Raksha Mantri Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, met and accorded approval for the procurement of equipment for the Defence Forces valued at over Rs 5500 crore.
