- The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the National Highway from Matabari to Sabroom in Udaipur, Tripura.
- “Queen Pineapple” declared as the state fruit of Tripura.
- Vizhinjam Bay is home to the smallest sea cucumber in India(which grows to a size of just 2 cm) scientists have reported.
- A third generation European Pressurised Reactor (EPR) reactor in Taishan, China carried out its first nuclear chain reaction, an initial start up which is a world first for the much-delayed European technology.
- The monetary policy committee of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decided to hike the repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.25 per cent.
