About ICAI:
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is the national professional accounting body of India. It was established on 1 July 1949 as a statutory body under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 enacted by the Parliament (acting as the provisional Parliament of India) to regulate the profession of Financial Accountancy in India.
ICAI is the second largest professional Accounting & Finance body in the world in terms of membership and number of students. It recommends the accounting standards to be followed by companies in India to the National Financial Reporting Authority the Public Accounting Oversight Board which supersedes ICAI. ICAI is solely responsible and accountable for setting the Standards on Auditing (SAs) to be followed in the audit of financial statements in India.
Overview of Programme:
The doctoral scholarship will be awarded to registered Ph.D. Scholars from UGC recognized reputed Indian Universities/ Deemed Universities/ Colleges, IIMs having University/IIMs approved Ph.D. Programme to pursue and complete their Doctoral Research in Auditing, Taxation, Commerce, Management and Accounting.
The candidates must have confirmed Ph.D. Registration and the objective of the Programme is to nurture talents in CA fraternity for technical research and awarding doctoral scholarship by admitting full time meritorious Research scholars who wants to carry out research in core areas having global relevance, adding value to subject and research results should aim to develop some theory and/or model which can be replicated universally.
Eligibility Criteria:
The Eligibility criteria for applying the Scholarship Programme 2021 are Membership of ICAI with at least 75% in 10th and 12th Standard. The Candidate should be a PhD Scholar from a recognized university/institution pursuing doctoral research in Auditing, Taxation, Commerce, Management and Accounting discipline. And the Candidate should not avail any kind of scholarship for the same.The Maximum Age limit for applying the Scholarship programme is 40 years.
Amount of the scholarship: Rs. 50,000 per month Scholarship to be awarded to the selected candidate for the maximum period of 36 months and Contingency grant will be admissible at the rate of Rs. 50,000 per annum.
Monitoring of Scholarship:
- Regular monitoring of scholarship is done based on quarterly and annual progress report submitted by the scholar and duly forwarded by the supervisor.
- Candidates must be ready for annual /mid-term appraisal of the research work
- During the Scholarship period, the candidates are required to publish yearly at least one research in International, Journal of repute and one in ICAI Journal on the theme of the research.
Completion of Scholarship:
After the completion of Scholarship the candidate should submit updated Progress report (from Supervisor) and submission of Ph.D. Thesis within three year on a non-judicial stamp paper of Rs. 100/- and vice versa.
Documents Required: Research Proposal and Abstract in 3000 and 300 words respectively and relevant supporting documents. Refer the official notification.
Selection Procedure: The Selection procedure is based on the region wise meritorious proposals. The Shortlisted Candidates should present their proposal before the Committee members.
