According to a statement issued by the Principal Secretary of School Education, the government is opposed to the addition of 1,590 postgraduate teacher posts for government and municipal secondary schools in Tamil Nadu in 2011-2012 and the addition of 6,752 postgraduate teaching posts in government high and secondary schools under the Intermediate Education Scheme to the Central Government for approval. 120 graduate teaching posts were handed over.

A total of 8,462 temporary posts were last issued with temporary extension order from 1-1-2019 to 31-12-2021. The Commissioner of School Education had requested the Government to grant a continuous extension to these posts from 1-1-2022 to 31-12-2024 as the temporary extension for the above posts ended with 31-12-2021.
