Government Extends Dussehra Holidays Till October 26!!! No Charges Declared. The Telangana administration has decided to extend the Dussehra offs after lowering the number of holidays. Students in Telangana-based schools and colleges will now enjoy Dussehra holidays through October 26.

Prior to this, the School Education Department was advised in a memo from the director of the Telangana State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) to reduce the number of Dussehra holidays from 14 to nine days in order to make up for the lost working days as a result of the National Integration Day celebrations and the heavy rains in July.

To make up for the lost instructional days, the SCERT has recommended a nine-day Dasara holiday from October 1 to 9 rather than a 14-day break from September 26 to October. The government has now made it clear that the layoffs will last through October 26.

On October 9, colleges and institutions will reopen, however students can only enrol as of October 26. The colleges’ only students will be lecturers. It has been made clear that classes won’t begin until October 26.

Since there has been a two-year hiatus between the first and second year postgraduate courses due to coronavirus, the amount of holidays has been discussed.

However, the Telangana government has granted 15 days of vacation time for the Bathukamma and Dussehra festivities. In addition to this, the same month will also see Diwali holidays. Multiple days of school and college closures may result from this.

The SCERT also recommended that the schools should be open on the second Saturdays of November and December this year and February, March, and April next year to make up for the missed days. According to SCERT, this will reduce the overall number of lost working days. However, the ultimate judgement has not yet been made.
