This year’s option on Maharashtra’s First-Year Junior College (FYJC) applications portal that permits students to fill their choice of seats under the management quota has students and administrators from various institutions confused. In the past, universities would fill these seats first, and then upload the details of the students, but this time the procedure appears to have been reversed.
This option while applying for admission has been chosen by many students. Students can now choose a seat under the management quota in addition to the in-house (10%) and minority (50%) quotas.
Mahesh Palkar, Director of School Education, Pune, released a circular detailing the rules for FYJC admissions in the middle of the confusion.
A principal of a suburban college responded to the announcement by saying, “If this circular is read in toto, the department is basically asking us to fill all the seats in all quotas as per merit. While minority quota seats are usually awarded on the basis of merit, this is not possible for management quota seats, according to the news portal.
According to reports, a second principal of a famous Maharashtra institution stated that although many students choose the management quota, not all applicants can be accepted.
Notably, Palkar has stated that the procedure has not altered and that the college quota seats will still be supplied. “It is to assist students in applying for quota seats online,” he stated. The college level will remain the place where admissions are handled. Principals, he continued, are sceptical and are advising the department to rescind the circular and disable the “management choice form” link if nothing is altered.
Don’t worry about the Management Quota students because it will be clearly seen by the board and clear it to you. Till then wait for the further announcement regarding this by the official.
