September 25 – World Pharmacist Day

  • As designated in 2009 by the The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) Council in Istanbul, Turkey, 25 September marks the annual World Pharmacists Day. FIP encourages pharmacists to use this day to organise activities that promote and advocate for the role of the pharmacist in improving health in every corner of the world.
  • “Safe and effective medicines for all” is the theme of this year’s World Pharmacists Day.

6th India Water Week – 2019

  • President Shri Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the 6th India Water Week – 2019 in New Delhi.
  • The theme of this year’s India Water week inaugurated by the President Shri Ram Nath Kovind is “Water cooperation: Coping with 21st Century Challenges”. Japan and European Union have been associated as partner countries for this mega event.
  • Ministry of Jal Shakti has been organizing India Water Week since 2012 as an international event to focus on water related issues.

JAMMU & KASHMIR

J&K becomes first state to issue highest number of golden cards under Ayushman Bharat scheme

  • Jammu and Kashmir has become the first state in the country to issue highest number of golden cards under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). Over 11 lakh golden cards have been generated within first 90 days of the launch of the scheme with 60% families having at least one golden card which is highest in the country.

Cane and Bamboo Technology Park at Burnihat, Assam

  • The Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the Cane and Bamboo Technology Park-cum-Office Premises of Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre (CBTC) at Burnihat, Assam.
  • The Bamboo Technology Park has been developed to exclusively deal with Bamboo & Cane, catering to the needs of the industries, entrepreneurs, designers, crafts persons, rural people, teachers, policy makers, technicians and technologists.

Gandhi Solar Park inaugurated at UN headquarters

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his thoughts on Mahatma Gandhi at a programme hosted by India in New York. Mr Modi along with others world leaders also inaugurated the Gandhi Solar Park at the UN headquarters and released a commemorative stamp issued by the UN on the occasion of Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary.

India announces 12 million dollar grant for high impact developmental projects in Pacific Island countries

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi met leaders of the Pacific Islands Developing States (PSIDS) on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York.Prime Minister Modi announced the allocation of 12 million US Dollar grant towards the implementation of high impact developmental project in the area of their choice.
  • In the health sector, PM offered to organize a Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camp in a Pacific regional hub under ‘India for Humanity’ programme.

New initiative launched at UN Climate Action Summit to guide heavy industries

  • A new initiative was launched at the UN Climate Action Summit to help guide the world’s heaviest greenhouse gas emitting industries toward the low-carbon economy.
  • India and Sweden together with Argentina, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, South Korea and the UK, as well as a group of companies announced a new Leadership Group for Industry Transition.
  • This Leadership Group will drive transformation in hard-to-decarbonize and energy-intensive sectors. An official release said this global initiative will ensure heavy industries and mobility companies can find a workable pathway to deliver on the Paris Agreement.

World’s first camel hospital at Dubai is set to expand its facilities

  • World’s first camel hospital at Dubai is set to expand its facilities by an additional 50 per cent in response to the increase in demand for its services. It is a unique hospital catering specifically to the needs of the burgeoning camel industry that has been flourishing and growing by leaps and bounds over the past few years.
  • The camel hospital, built at an estimated cost of 40 million Dirhams, opened its doors in 2017 to meet the demand in the UAE for an advanced medical facility dedicated to treating camels.

National Launch of Private Security Agency Licensing Portal

  • The Private Security Agency Licensing Portal was launched in New Delhi. The online portal would be useful in ensuring transparency in licensing in this sector and would give a boost to its credibility. The portal will be available in all official Indian languages in next 90 days and that such facilitation would give a pan-India profile to the online licensing process.

 ‘CHC Farm Machinery and Krishi Kisan App for Geo Tagging’

  • Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, launched two mobile Apps – ‘CHC Farm Machinery and Krishi Kisan App for Geo Tagging’ in New Delhi.
  • The Minister said that through CHC Farm Machinery App, farmers can select and order the required machinery at the rates feasible for them from the Custom Hiring Centers located in the radius of 50 Kms.
  • The Krishi Kisan App will provide farmers the information of best demonstration of high-yielding crops and seeds in their nearby area.

16th Global SME Business Summit

  • Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Road Transport & Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the 16th Global SME Business Summit 2019 in New Delhi.
  • The Summit is organized every year by Ministry of MSME and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).  The theme this year is  Making Indian MSMEs Globally Competitive.

5th India International Science Festival

  • The 5th edition of India International Science Festival (IISF) 2019 will be held at Kolkata from 5th to 8th November, 2019. The Union Minister for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences and Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Harsh Vardhan announced this in New Delhi.
  • The theme for this year’s festival is RISEN India – Research, Innovation, and Science Empowering the Nation.

 Exhibition of India Tourism Mart (ITM) 2019

  • TheUnion Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent Charge), Shri Prahlad Singh Patel inaugurated the exhibition of India Tourism Mart (ITM) 2019 in New Delhi.
  • The Ministry of Tourism and the Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism and Hospitality (FAITH) have jointly organized this Mart.

National Service Scheme Awards

  • The President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind conferred National Service Scheme Awards 2017-18 in a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan. In the field of University /+2 Council First award was won by Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli,Tamil Nadu and the Second was Vikrama Simhapuri University, Andhra Pradesh.

Dada Saheb Phalke award

  • Bollywood’s megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been selected for 66th Dada Saheb Phalke award for the year 2018 for his contribution to the Indian film industry.The award is conferred by the Government for outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian Cinema. It consists of a Swarn Kamal and a cash prize of ten lakh rupees.
