September 14 – World First Aid Day

  • World First Aid Day is a global observance held on the second Saturday in September.So this year it is celebrated on September 14,2019, It was instituted by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in 2000 and has been celebrated each year ever since. Theme : “First Aid and excluded people”

Hindi Divas

  • Hindi Divas is being celebrated across the country. It was on this day in 1949 that the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi written in Devanagari as the official language of the country.

Maritime Communication Services in India

  • Union Minister for Communications, Electronics & Information Technology and Law & Justice Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad has launched the maritime communication services at Mumbai.
  • He said that Maritime Connectivity will enable high-end support to those in sea by providing access to Voice, Data and Video services while traveling on sailing vessels, cruise liners, ships in India, using satellite technology.

Biggest Tribal Movement launched to promote tribal enterprise through Bamboonomics

  • Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Shri Arjun Munda launched the Biggest Tribal movement to promote tribal enterprise through Bamboonomics in the country which will be a beacon for the rest of the world. He launched the movement for combating desertification and the climate change at “The Indian Perspective throughBamboonomics” session at ‘COP 14 UNCCD : TRIFED-GIZ’ organized at Greater Noida Expo.

Centre to set up 12,500 Ayush Health and Wellness Centres across the country

  • Union Government has set a target of setting up 12 thousand 500 Ayush Health and Wellness Centres across the country. Out of which four thousand will be set up during this year. AYUSH Minister Shripad Yesso Naik said this after inaugurating a Unani Medical Centre and Siddha Clinical Research Unit at Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi.

Bangladesh to import, invest in power from neighbouring countries

  • Bangladesh is holding talks with neighbouring countries including India to import electricity and invest in power plants to make electricity available to every village in the country. Bangladesh has imported 600 MW from India and it is planning to invest in Bhutan and Nepal.

BUSINESS & ECONOMY

Government imposes minimum export price for onion to check domestic prices

  • The government has imposed a minimum onion export price of 850 US dollars per tonne to curb its exports and help bring down domestic prices. A notification to this effect was issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade. The Minimum Export Price is the rate, below which no exports are allowed.

World Bank to provide Rs 3,000 crore aid for food parks

  • Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Rameswar Teli has said, the World Bank will provide three thousand crore rupees assistance to finance, mini and mega food parks across the country.

15th Indo-US Economic Summit

  • 15th Indo-US Economic Summit was organised by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce- North India Council (IACC- NIC) in New Delhi. Minister of State for Food Processing Industries said the budget allocation for food processing ministry should be raised to Rs 3,000 crore a year from the current level of Rs 1,400 crore in order to boost the sector.

Railways signs MoU with CII on green initiatives

  • Indian Railways signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Confederation of Indian Industries in New Delhi for the facilitation of green initiatives. The objectives of the MoU is greening of Railway properties and energy efficiency in manufacturing facilities and railway workshops.

Five Indian women police officers honoured by United Nations

  • Five Indian women police officers were honoured by the United Nations for their commendable services in UN mission in South Sudan.
  • Officials informed that Reena Yadav, Inspector, Chandigarh Police; Gopika Jahagirdar, DSP, Maharashtra Police, Bharati Samantray, DSP in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ragini Kumari, Inspector in the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Kamal Shekhawat, ASP, Rajasthan Police were conferred the UN medal.

Rani Rampal to captain Indian women’s hockey team on England tour

  • In Hockey Rani Rampal was named the captain of the 18-member Indian Women’s team which will take on England in a five-match series. The series is scheduled to take place in Marlow, England from 27th of this month to 4th of next month. Rani will have goalkeeper Savita as her deputy.
