Dr Jitendra Singh to lay foundation stone of NERAMAC Marketing complex in Guwahati

  • The Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (IC) Dr Jitendra Singh will lay the foundation stone of North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Limited (NERAMAC) Marketing complex in Guwahati, Assam.

‘Nuakhai’ Festival

  • The major agrarian festival of this region is being celebrated in every nook and corner collectively with much fanfare and religious fervor on September 3.
  • The Nuakhai Juhar is a major ritual of the festival. It is an exchange of greetings with friend relative and well-wishers.
  • Being an agrarian festival, the eldest in each household in rural pockets worshipped their paddy fields praying for a bumper crop and favourable weather.

Iran rules out bilateral talks with US

  • Iranian President Hassan Rouhani ruled out holding any bilateral talks with the United States. He also threatened to further cut Iran’s commitments to a nuclear deal within days.
  • In an address to Parliament, Rouhani said any dialogue with the US would have to fall within the framework of the group of major powers that agreed to a landmark nuclear deal with Tehran in 2015.

WHO’s SEARO meeting venue in New Delhi

  • The 72nd Session of World Health Organization Regional Office for South-East Asia (SEARO) meeting is being held in New Delhi. At the inauguration of the Session of WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia, Dr Vardhan said, universal health for all, a disease-free India and global standards of excellence in health care is the aim of the NDA Government for a new India.

UNICEF conference in Colombo

  • India gave a strong rebuttal to Pakistani attempt to raise Kashmir issue at UNICEF South Asian Parliamentarian conference in Colombo. The event in Colombo was organized by Sri Lankan Parliament together with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the convention of the rights of the child and did not have any political agenda.

Exercise Yudh Abhyas – 2019

  • As part of the ongoing Indo-US defence cooperation, a joint military training, Exercise Yudh Abhyas – 2019 is being conducted at Joint Base Lewis Mc Chord, Washington, USA from 05-18 September 2019. Exercise Yudh Abhyas is one of the largest joint running military training and defence corporation endeavors between India and USA. This will be the 15th edition of the joint exercise hosted alternately between the two countries.

The annual Defence Ministerial Meeting on 2 September 2019 in Tokyo

  • E. Mr. Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister of India is on a bilateral visit to Japan at the invitation of the H.E. Mr. Takeshi Iwaya, Defence Minister of Japan from 2 to 3 September 2019. The two Ministers held the annual Defence Ministerial Meeting on 2 September 2019 in Tokyo.

ESIC Signs an Agreement with SBI

  • A Memorandum of Agreement has been signed between the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and SBI today in accordance with which, the SBI would provide e-payment services directly to the bank accounts of all ESIC beneficiaries and payees without any manual intervention as an integrated and automated process.
  • The SBI would provide e-payment integration with the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) processes of ESIC through its Cash Management Product (CMP) e-payment technology platform.

  • Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora assumed Chairmanship of Association of World Election Bodies, AWEB for the term 2019-21 as India takes over the Chair from Romania.
