October 6 – World Cerebral Palsy Day

  • World Cerebral Palsy Day (WCPY) is observed on 6th October.Cerebral palsy refers to a group of neurological disorders that appear in infancy or early childhood and permanently affect body movement and muscle coordination.The project was launched in 2012 by Cerebral Palsy Alliance (Australia) and United Cerebral Palsy (USA).

October 7 – World Habitat Day

  • The United Nations designated the first Monday of October of every year as World Habitat Day to reflect on the state of our towns and cities, and on the basic right of all to adequate shelter. The Day is also intended to remind the world that we all have the power and the responsibility to shape the future of our cities and towns.

Government launches Ganga Aamantran Abhiyan

  • Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched a unique initiative called ‘Ganga Amantran’ to connect with the stakeholders of the river.
  • It is a pioneering exploratory open- water rafting and kayaking expedition on the Ganga river.It will begin on oct 11 and will continue till 11th of next month.

Ministry of Tourism organises first of its kind Adventure Trekking Training course

  • ShriPrahlad Singh Patel, the Indian Institute of Skiing & Mountaineering (IISM) Gulmarg, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in association with Indian Institute of Travel & Tourism Management (IITTM) an autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourismhas organised an Adventure Tourism Training Courses in Trekking in Ladakh.

Indian-origin Singaporean judge joins Brunei Supreme Court

  • An Indian-origin Singaporean judge has been sworn in by Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah as a judicial commissioner of the Supreme Court of the sultanate.
  • Kannan Ramesh’s appointment is for a two-year period and the 54-year-old Justice will continue to hold his position as a full-time judge of the Supreme Court of Singapore.

50th IFFI 2019 to be held in Goa from November 20-28

  • The 50th International Film Festival of India, IFFI 2019, will be held from November 20-28 in Goa. Over 200 best films from 76 countries, 26 feature films and 15 non-feature films in the Indian Panorama section will be screened at the film festival.

Dr Harsh Vardhan launches eDantseva website and mobile application

  • Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare launched the eDantseva website and mobile application, the first ever national digital platform on oral health information and knowledge dissemination in New Delhi.
  • This marks an important milestone as e-DantSeva will reach out to more than one billion people with one click in the form of a dedicated website and mobile application.

Indian Army organizes “Veer Kutumb Rally” in J&K’s Akhnoor

  • In Jammu and Kashmir, Crossed Swords Division organized a “VEER KUTUMB RALLY” at Tanda, Akhnoor with an aim to reach out to veterans, veer naris, widows and their families. The Rally was organised by the Indian Army as part of its activities to observe 2019 as the ‘Year of the Next of Kin’.
