North East Expo 2019

  • Union Minister of State Dr.Jitendra Singh presided over as Chief Guest at the Curtain Raiser event for the North East Expo 2019, organised in New Delhi. The All India Women’s Education Fund Association (AIWEFA) organized the event.
  • The North East Expo, 2019, will provide a platform for entrepreneurs from the eight northeast states to open up trade and commerce with ASEAN and BIMSTEC nations through Tea Diplomacy and Khadi Diplomacy.

35th Raising Day of National Security Guard (NSG)

  • Union Minister for Home Affairs, Shri Amit Shah presided over as Chief Guest on the 35th Raising Day Ceremony of National Security Guard (NSG), at NSG HQ in Manesar, Gurugram.
  • The National Security Guard (NSG) is a counter terrorism unit under the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). It was raised in 15th October1984, following Operation Blue Star, Akshardham Temple attack and the assassination of Indira Gandhi, for combating terrorist activities with a view to protect states against internal disturbances.

Bengaluru to have dedicated ATS from Nov 1

  • Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai has informed that Bengaluru will have a dedicated Anti-Terror Squad from November 1st.
  • The minister said that the decision was taken after National Investigation Agency warned that at least 20 sleeping cells of terrorist groups exist in Bengaluru. Anti Terror Squad will work in coordination with NIA, cybersecurity cell and Psychotropic drug control cells.

Air India becomes first airline in world to use Taxibot on A-320 aircraft

  • Air India has become the first airline in the world to use a Taxibot on an A-320 aircraft with passengers on board. Taxibot is a robot-used aircraft tractor for taxiing an aircraft from parking bay to runway and vice-versa.

Gujarat, Tamil Nadu top performers under PM-JAY health scheme

  • Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh have emerged as the top performing States with free secondary and tertiary treatment worth nearly Rs. 7,901 crore availed under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), the flagship health assurance scheme of the Government in just over a year.

IMF cuts World and India growth rates

  • The World Bank-International Monetary Fund (IMF) annual meetings kicked off owith the IMF downgrading global growth in 2019 to 3%, the slowest since the global financial crisis.
  • India’s growth projections have also been downgraded to 6.1% and 7.0% in 2019 and 2020 respectively, down by 1.2 percentage points and 0.5 percentage points relative to April projections, owing to weaker than expected domestic demand.

17th Meeting of Maritime States Development Council

  • The Ministry of Shipping is working on a plan to develop a National Grid for Ports based on synergy between the Major and Minor ports in the country. Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, MoS (I/C) for Shipping and MoS Chemical and Fertilizers announced this while addressing the media after the 17th Meeting of Maritime States Development Council (MSDC) in New Delhi today.
  • MSDC is an apex advisory body for the development of the Maritime sector and aims to ensure integrated development of Major and non-Major Ports.. The MSDC was constituted in May, 1997.

Third India Energy Forum by CERAWeek

  • The India Ministerial Dialogue was held at third India Energy Forum by CERAWeek in New Delhi. Minister of Petroleum &Natural Gas& Steel Shri Dharmendra Pradhan said that Energy sector will be fueling India’s journey towards the goal of a 5 trillion dollar economy.
  • CERAWeek is an annual energy conference organized by the information and insights company IHS Markit in Houston, Texas. CERAWeek India Energy Forum Partners help to build a culture of idea exchange, learning, and relationship-building between industry, government and society to secure the global energy future.

41st DRDO Directors’ Conference

  • Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the 41st DRDO Directors’ Conference at DRDO Bhawan in New Delhi. The Conference is an annual event, where a number of brainstorming sessions are planned over two days.
  • He appreciated the DRDO for achieving the 100 days’ target and identifying milestones to commemorate 75 years of Independence and the roadmap for 5 years.
