14th Annual Convention of Central Information Commission

  • Union Minister for Home Affairs, Shri Amit Shah would preside as Chief Guest over the inaugural session of the 14th Annual Convention of the Central Information Commission (CIC) in New Delhi, on 12th October, 2019.

First ever India International Cooperatives Trade Fair gets underway in New Delhi

  • The first ever India International Cooperatives Trade Fair got underway in New Delhi . The three day Fair is a major platform to promote export of products of cooperatives which will lead to enhanced rural and farm prosperity. Organisations from 36 countries are participating in the Fair.
  • Addressing the gathering during the inauguration, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said cooperation is at the core of Indian culture. He said more than 150 Indian cooperatives are taking part in this event. He said it is a historic occasion to discuss the challenges being faced by Cooperatives, like delivery and available markets.

Mou & Agreements

GeM signs MOU with Union Bank of India

  • Government e-Marketplace (GeM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Union Bank of India (UBI) in New Delhi on October 10, 2019.
  • Through this partnership, UBI will be able to offer an array of services including transfer of funds through GeM Pool Accounts (GPA), advising of Performance Bank Guarantees (e-PBG) and Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) to the registered users on the GeM portal.

India  have signed some important agreements with Comoros

  • India has said, it will extend a Line of Credit of over 60 million US Dollars to Comoros in the field of energy and maritime defence cooperation.
  • both the countries have signed some important agreements including cooperation in defence and energy sectors. He said, India will extend a Line of Credit of over 41.6 million US Dollars for setting up of 18 MW Power Plant in Moroni and another 20 million US Dollars for the procurement of High-Speed Interceptor Boats.

India – Bangladesh Navies Undertake Coordinated Patrol in North Bay of Bengal

  • The second edition of Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) of the navies of India and Bangladesh commenced in Northern Bay of Bengal on Thursday.
  • Indian Navy said guided-missile destroyer INS Ranvijay and ingeniously built missile Corvette INS Kuthar are participating in the exercise along with BNS Ali Haider, and BNS Shadinota from Bangladesh. The two-day patrol will be followed by the maiden edition of Bilateral Exercise of the navies of two countries at Visakhapatnam between October 12-16.
  • The India Bangladesh CORPAT commenced in 2018. The exercise aims at development of mutual communication and sharing of best practices between the two navies.

Mobile App, “mHariyali” Launched for ‘Environment Protection in Government Colonies’ Website

  • Shri Hardeep S Puri, Minister of State(I/c) for Housing & Urban Affairs launching the mobile app, “mHariyali,”, . The app is aimed to encourage Public engagement in  planting  trees and other such Green drives. People can now upload information/photos of any plantation done by them, which is linked to app and will be displayed on the website www.epgc.gov.in.

Health Minister gives Kayakalp Awards to hospitals

  • Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan gave away Kayakalp Awards to different Central Government institutions, district hospitals, community health centres and private hospitals for their work in maintaining high standards of sanitation and hygiene in public health facilities.

Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed wins Nobel Peace Prize

  • Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has won the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize for his peacemaking efforts with Eritrea.
  • Ethiopia and Eritrea, longtime foes who fought a border war from 1998 to 2000, restored relations in July 2018 after years of hostility. The prize will be presented in Oslo on Dec 10.

  • Star sprinter Dutee Chand smashed her own national record, clocking 11.22 seconds, in the women’s 100m semifinals at the 59th National Open Athletics Championships in Ranchi

Virat Kholi surpassed sir Don Bradman’s record of most 150 plus score as a captain

  • It was a landmark day for Skipper Virat Kohli who first hit his 26th century and equalled Australia legend Ricky Ponting’s record for most Test hundreds as Skipper. After that, he surpassed sir Don Bradman’s record of most 150 plus score as a captain. He then hit a double century, 7th for him, and the most among Indian batsmen, eclipsing legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag.
