Shilpotsav -2019
  • Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot visited the “Shilpostav- 2019” to encourage the artisans at Dilli Haat, INA, in New Delhi. Shilpostav- 2019 is the annual fair of artisans from across the country, belonging to the weaker sections of the society, which began on 1st November and will continue till 15th November 2019.

TAMILNADU

Meenakshi temple pilgrims to be given free laddu as prashad
  • The world renowned Madurai Meenakshi temple in Tamil Nadu has commenced free supply of its famous sweet laddu offering from Nov 8,2019.
  • Meenakshi Temple is a historic Hindu temple located on the southern bank of the Vaigai River in the temple city of Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. Madurai Meenakshi temple was built by King Kulasekara Pandya (1190-1216 CE).The temple is at the center of the ancient temple city of Madurai mentioned in the Tamil Sangam literature, with the goddess temple mentioned in 6th century CE. The temple was further expanded during the late 16th century and early 17th century by Vishwanatha Nayakar, a king of the Nayaka dynasty.

DELHI

Inaugural conclave on “National Capital Region -2041”
  • The inaugural conclave “NCR-2041” with the theme “Planning for Tomorrow’s Greatest Capital Region” will be held in the national capital on 11th November 2019. The Regional Plan-2041 for NCR will be among the key instruments to address various issues related to harmonious development of the largest metropolitan region of the world.
  • The Regional Plan with the horizon year 2021 was notified on 17th of September 2005 and is presently in force. A Regional Plan with next horizon year 2041 is required to be prepared now.

HIMACHAL PRADESH

Highlevel Task Force Setup to Fast Track Implementation of Schemes
  • A High Level task force will be constituted with Secretary Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade Secretary as chairperson, and representatives of the Union Ministries of agriculture and food processing, railways and tourism, to study all schemes of the Government of India and the Himachal Pradesh State Government in order to ensure better implementation of these schemes.
  • The high level task force will give its recommendations within three months. This was announced by the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry & Railways, Piyush Goyal,.

APP & WEB PORTAL

Indian Railways launches three online applications
  • Indian Railways launched three applications for all-India rollout to strengthen the IT enablement of railways which will help ensure proper monitoring of projects being undertaken by Indian Railways and will boost the vision of Digital India.
  • CRS Sanction Management System: CRS Sanction is an important aspect in construction, maintenance and up-gradation of railway assets.
  • Rail-road crossing GAD approval system: This project for online e-Governance platform was developed to expedite preparation, processing & approval of General Agreement Drawings (GADs) related to construction of Road Over Bridges (ROB)/Road Under Bridges (RUB)
  • TMS for construction: This application has been developed for new assets being constructed by the construction/project organisation.

BUSINESS & ECONOMY

SBI lowers lending rates by 5 basis points
  • State Bank of India has lowered its lending rates by 5 basis points across all tenors. It has also sharply slashed the deposits pricing between 15 and 75 basis points. It will be effective from 10th of November. This is the seventh consecutive cut in lending rates by the bank this fiscal.

27th Conference of Central and State Statistical Organizations (COCSSO)
  • Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is organizing 27th Conference of Central and State Statistical Organizations (COCSSO) during 11-12thNovember 2019 at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, DG Block, Action Area 1, New Town, Kolkata.
  • The Conference, a major national annual event, provides a platform for discussion and improved coordination between the Central and State Statistical agencies for enhancing the efficiency of the Indian Statistical System. The theme of this year’s Conference is “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.
10th Meeting of Heads of Departments of SCO Member States
  • The Union Minister for Home Affairs, Shri Amit Shah addressed the 10th Meeting of the Heads of Departments of SCO Member States, dealing with the prevention and elimination of emergency situations, in New Delhi.
  • Expressing pride in organizing an SCO Ministerial Meeting for the first time in India, the Home Minister expressed hope that this meeting would bring together all SCO Nations to deliberate on an effective strategy to build disaster resilient infrastructure and bolster each others’ capabilities to efficiently tackle future disasters by exchanging best practices.
 “NuGen Mobility Summit”
  • ICAT is organizing the “NuGen Mobility Summit” from 27th – 29th November 2019 at ICAT Centre-II, IMT Manesar, Haryana to identify the trends and roadmap for the future of stainable mobility in India and to address the challenges faced by various stakeholders.
  • The Summit aims to bring together industry, researchers and academic experts to share, discuss and showcase new proposals, technology and innovations and present solutions to the challenges faced by the engineering industry in India and abroad.

Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth claims victory in the election
  • In Mauritius, Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth claimed victory in the election as official preliminary results showing his alliance taking a comfortable lead over rivals in the Indian Ocean nation.
  • Jugnauth’s ruling Militant Socialist Movement (MSM) won more than half of parliamentary seats, securing incumbent Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth a five-year term.

DEFENCE

The Upgraded 3d air Combat Mobile Game
  • The Vice Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal HS Arora launched the multiplayer version of its upgraded 3D Air Combat Mobile Game “Indian Air Force: A Cut Above” at the Air Force Bal Bharti School. The game was initially launched by the Indian Air Force to connect with the youth of the country and inspire them to join the Indian Air Force.
  • The first version of the mobile game was launched on 31 May 19. The mobile application has two modes named as “Team Battle” and “Death Match”. The user has option to choose from the diverse range of the aircraft in the inventory of the IAF, including Mig 21, Tejas and Mig 29 which were not available in the previous version

SPORTS

India to host 2023 Men’s Hockey World Cup
  • India will host the 2023 Men’s Hockey World Cup from 13th to 29th of January. The International Hockey Federation (FIH) said India will host the men’s tournament while Spain and the Netherlands have been named as the co-hosts of the 2022 Women’s World Cup scheduled to be held from 1st to 22nd of July.
