November 7 – National Cancer Awareness Day

  • National Cancer Awareness Day is observed on 7 November to spread awareness about cancer and to make it global health priority. In 2014, National Cancer Awareness Day was started by the announcement of the former Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan.

Three books on Guru Nanak Dev Ji launched

  • On the occasion of 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal will launch three books on Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College in Delhi.
  • The National Book Trust has published three titles – Guru Nanak Bani, Nanak Bani, and Sakhian Guru Nanak Dev-to spread the message of Guru Nanak Dev’s writings among readers of Indian sub-continent. These books, published originally in Punjabi, shall be translated into 15 major Indian languages.

11th edition of Bal Sangam

  • The Eleventh edition of Bal Sangam to be organised by the National School of Drama, NSD, will begin from the 9th of this month in the New Delhi.
  • It is a confluence of folk and traditional art forms performed by children. The four-day festival will showcase enthralling folk and traditional performing arts and folk theatre dedicated to children.

Bangladesh bans Islamist outfit ‘Allar Dol’

  • Government of Bangladesh has banned the Islamist outfit ‘Allar Dol’ saying that it poses threat to public safety and security.
  • Allahr Dol is the ninth Islamist group to be banned for extremism and militancy in Bangladesh. Allah’r Dol was formed in 1995 with the aim to establish Caliphate through armed struggle. In 2004 it merged with banned militant organisation Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

Shaala Darpan portal

  • Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Shri Sanjay Dhotre launched Shaala Darpan portal, an E-Governance school automation and management system for NavodayaVidyalayaSamiti (NVS) in New Delhi. This single integrated platform has been developed for information sharing and knowledge dissemination for the 22000 employees and over 2 lakh students across schools and offices of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

First ever‘BIMSTEC Ports’ Conclave’

  • The Minister of State (I/C) for Shipping,Shri Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the first ever‘BIMSTEC Ports’ Conclave’at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on 7 November 2019.
  • The Ports’ First Conclave of BIMSTEC nations is expected to explore the possibility of increasing economic cooperation by furthering EXIM trade and coastal shipping. The Conclave will also discuss on various investment opportunities, best practices adopted for productivity and safety at Ports.

MoU & AGREEMENTS

MoU between India and Paraguay

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given ex-post facto approval to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Paraguay for Strengthening Cooperation in the field of Tourism.
  • The MoU between India and Paraguay will help the two nations in creating an institutional mechanism for enhancing cooperation in the tourism sector. It will further help India in increasing foreign tourist arrivals from Paraguay, which in turn, will result in economic development and employment generation.

MoU signed between India and Guinea

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given approval for the MoU between India and Guinea in the field of Renewable Energy. The objective of the MoU is to establish the basis for a cooperative institutional relationship,To encourage and promote bilateral technical cooperation in the field of renewable energy on the basis of mutual benefit, equality and reciprocity between the Parties.
  • Areas of cooperation include Solar Energy, Wind Energy, Bio-energy, and Waste to energy, Small Hydro Storage and Capacity Build.

MoU between India and Maldives

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Maldives on Training and Capacity-Building Programme for Maldivian Judicial Officers in India.
  • The MoU will promote cooperation between India and Maldives in judicial and other legal areas, and enable exchange of knowledge and technology in training and capacity building.

MoU signed between India and Bangladesh

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given ex-post facto approval for the MoU between India and Bangladesh on withdrawal of 1.82 cusec of water from Feni River by India for drinking water supply scheme for Sabroom town Tripura, India.

MoU between India and Switzerland

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given ex-post facto approval to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Switzerland on Technical Cooperation in the field of Climate Change and Environment.
  • The MoU will enable establishment and promotion of closer and long-term cooperation between the two countries in the field of environmental protection and management of natural resources on the basis of equity, reciprocity and mutual benefits, taking into account the applicable laws and legal provisions in each country.
