1.World Weather Day is observed on March 23:

  • World Weather Day is celebrated around the world on March 23 each year.
  • This day is celebrated as the establishment of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and also helps people to understand their role in protecting the Earth’s atmosphere.
  • World Weather Day is a significant day that focuses on the global recognition of various issues of the planet Earth. This day is conducted by raising awareness about the various concerns of the earth around the world.

2.Francis Carey is proud to be the first African to win the 2022 Pritzker Prize:

  • Pritzker Architecture is an award given to architects who demonstrate a combination of gift, talent, vision and dedication.
  • Architect, educator and social activist Francis Carey has been announced as the recipient of the 2022 Pritzker Architecture Prize 2022 Prize. This award is referred to as the highest honor of architecture.
  • Born in the small village of Condo in Burkina Faso, Kere was the first black architect to win this coveted award.
  • In 2021, the award was presented to French architects Anne Lagaton and Jean-Philippe Vaasal.
  • In 2020 Shelley McNamara and Yvonne Farrell of Crafton Architects were honored.
  • The award was established in 1979 by the Hyatt Foundation.
  1. Bangladesh named world’s most polluted country by IQAir report:
  • Bangladesh was the most polluted country in the world by 2021, according to the World Air Quality Report by IQAir, a Swiss air quality technology company.
  • In terms of particulate matter in the air, Bangladesh recorded an average PM2.5 level of 76.9 micrograms per cubic meter in 2021, up from a maximum of 5 micrograms per cubic meter, as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
  • In 2018, 2019 and 2020 Bangladesh was found to be the most polluted country in the world.
  • Dhaka is the second most polluted city in the world. Seven million deaths worldwide each year due to air pollution.
  1. India ranks 51st in global housing price hike: Knight Frank
  • In the ‘Global House Index – Q4 2021’ report, Knight Frank said that India has moved up five places to 51st in Q42021, up from 56th in Q42020.
  • Knight Frank LLP is an estate agency in London founded by John Knight, Howard Frank and William Ruddley.
  • In the 4th quarter of 2021, Turkey saw the highest annual price growth rate of 59.6 percent.
  • New Zealand (22.6 percent), Czech Republic (22.1 percent), Slovakia (22.1 percent) and Australia (21.8 percent) are in the top 5, respectively.

  1. ‘Dol Utsav’ or ‘Dol Jatra’, a festival of colors, is celebrated in West Bengal:
  • West Bengal celebrated the festival of colors ‘Dol Utsav’ or ‘Dol Jatra’ to mark the beginning of spring.
  • Dedicated to Krishna and Radha, this festival is celebrated on a full moon day.
  • It also marks the last festival of the year according to the Bengali calendar. In the eastern part of India, the spring festival is celebrated as Dol Jatra, Dol Purnima, Dol Utsav and Pasanda Utsav. This majestic festival is celebrated by throwing ‘gulal’ or ‘abir’ on others and singing and dancing at cultural events.

  1. Pramod Sawant has been appointed as the new Chief Minister of Goa:
  • Pramod Sawant (born 24 April 1973) is an Indian politician.
  • He is the 13th and current Chief Minister of Goa. Sawant represents the Sankelim constituency in the Goa Legislative Assembly and is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
  • He is an Ayurvedic medical practitioner. He was also the Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly before becoming the Chief Minister.

  1. Delhi has been declared the most polluted capital in the world by IQAir’s 2021 World Air Quality Report:
  • New Delhi has been ranked as the world’s most polluted capital for the second year in a row, according to IQAir’s 2021 World Air Quality Report.
  • Next to New Delhi are Dhaka (Bangladesh), N’Jamena (Chad), Dushanbe (Tajikistan) and Muscat (Oman), the top five most polluted capitals respectively.
  • Meanwhile, Bhiwadi was the most polluted city in India, followed by Ghaziabad, Delhi and Jaunpur.
  1. Joint Exercise EX-DUSTLIK between Indian and Uzbek Armed Forces begins:
  • The 3rd edition of the joint exercise, dubbed EX-DUSTLIK, between the Indian Army and the Uzbekistan Army begins on March 22-21, 2022 in Yangon, Uzbekistan. Also the last edition of DUSTLIK was held in Raniket (Uttarakhand) on March 2021.
  • The Indian team will be represented by the Grenadiers Regiment and the troops of the Northwest Army District.
  • It is to join the Uzbekistan military group.

  1. Lakshya Sen wins bronze at the 2022 England Open Badminton Championships:
  • Lakshya Sen (born 16 August 2001) is an Indian badminton player. Sen is a former world junior no. He won gold medals in the men’s singles at the 2018 Asian Junior Championships and in the mixed team at the Summer Youth Olympics. He also won a bronze medal at the 2021 World Championships.
  • Lakshya Sen from Uttarakhand, who won bronze at the World Championships, lost to world number one Victor Axelsson in the men’s singles final and finished second at the 2022 England Open Badminton Championships.
  • Only two Indians have won the prestigious England Open Badminton Championship title:
  • Prakash Padukone (1981);
  • Pullela Gopichand (2001).
  1. PhonePe acquires GigIndia, a freelance entrepreneur network:
  • PhonePe, a digital payments and financial services company, has acquired GigIndia, a Pune-based network of independent micro-entrepreneurs. PhonePe will be able to integrate 1.5 million entrepreneurs and more than 100 businesses into customers, and with its own employees, as a result of the acquisition.
  • PhonePe aims to use ZigIndia’s freelance micro-entrepreneurship network to assist corporations and businesses in expanding their customer base and distribution channels.

  1. NITI Ayog, under the Women Entrepreneurship Forum (WEP), has presented awards to 75 women:
  • The Women Entrepreneurship Forum (WEP) of the NITI Commission organized the 5th edition of the Women Transformation India Awards (WTI). As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the WTI Awards were presented to 75 female achievers for their contribution to the ‘Sashakt Aur Samarth Bharat’ project, celebrating the 75th anniversary of India’s independence.

  • The India Awards for Transforming Women 2018 has been presented under the NITI Commission, Women Entrepreneurship Forum (WEP) with a special focus on Entrepreneurship, highlighting the commendable and exciting efforts of women leaders and change makers in India.
  1. Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launches Sujalam 2.0 campaign for gravity management:
  • Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched the Sujalam 2.0 Campaign for Groundwater Management conducted by the Department of Water and Sanitation (DDWS) of the Ministry of Water Energy on the eve of World Water Day 2022.
  • Purpose:
  • The aim of this campaign is to take serious action in solid and liquid waste management in more than 6 lakh villages.
  1. India’s FY23 growth slows to 8.5% in Fitch estimates:
  • Fitch Ratings has downgraded India’s GDP growth for the 2022-2023 fiscal year to 8.5 per cent in March 2022.
  • Previously this rate was estimated at 10.3%. The downward forecast is due to the sharp rise in energy prices due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Rating agency Fitch has raised its GDP growth forecast for the current fiscal year 2021-2022 by 0.6 percentage points to 8.7 percent.
  1. Nagaland became the first paperless assembly by implementing e-Vidan application:
  • Nagaland is a mountainous state in northeastern India bordering Myanmar.
  • Nagaland has made history as the first state legislature in the country to make the National eVidan Application (NeVA) scheme completely paperless.
  • The Nagaland Assembly Secretariat has attached a tablet or e-book to each table in the 60-member assembly.

  1. Narasingapettai in Tamil Nadu has a geographical identity for Nathaswaram:
  • Nagaswaram, which is used by artists today, is named after Bari Nagaswaram.
  • Narasingapettai Nagaswaram has been given a geographical tag under Class 15 musical instruments. Narasingapettai Nagaswaram is a classical wind instrument traditionally made in a village near Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu.
  1. With a record high of 53.2 degrees Celsius, Kuwait has become the hottest place on earth:
  • Kuwait reached a maximum temperature of 53.2 degrees Celsius (127.7 degrees Fahrenheit), making it one of the hottest places on Earth. Birds fell from the sky due to extreme heat in Kuwait last summer. Seahorses boiled and died in the bay.
  • And renewable energy demand is less than 1 percent – well below Kuwait’s target of 15 percent by 2030.
