Government moving towards One Nation One Ration Card
  • Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan said, the government is moving towards One Nation One Ration Card. He said the national portability of Ration cards will ensure all beneficiaries especially the migrants in getting access to Public Distribution System (PDS) across the nation.

Singhey Khababs Sindhu Festivals
  • In the Ladakh Region of Jammu and Kashmir, Singhey Khababs Sindhu Festivals is being celebrated on the bank of Indus River in Leh. Governor Sayta Pal Malik inaugurated the festival. The main attraction of the festival is local Folk songs and dances, exhibitions of handicrafts,  and ethnic food items.

Go Tribal campaign to be launched in New Delhi
  • The government will launch the Go Tribal Campaign in New Delhi to promote the use of tribal handicrafts and natural products. Tribal Affairs Ministry said TRIFED has organized this event to institutionalize collaborations and partnerships with different organizations to promote tribal products.

Ranjit Singh’s sculpture was unveiled in Lahore
  • Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s sculpture was unveiled in Lahore to mark his 180th death anniversary. Around 500 people crossed the Wagah border to attend the unveiling event. The main ceremony will take place at Gurdwara Dera Sahib. The sculpture is the result of collaboration between Fakir Khana Museum and Sarkar Khalsa Foundation.

NASA to open sealed moon rock samples
  • The restricted lab of NASA is home to hundreds of kilos of moon rocks collected by Apollo astronauts close to a half-century ago. And for the first time in decades, NASA is about to open some of the pristine samples and let geologists take a crack at them with new technology.

India signs USD 400M loan agreement with World Bank to eliminate TB
  • India has signed a loan agreement worth 400 million dollar with the World Bank to help treat and eliminate Tuberculosis from the country. In India, around five lakh people died every year due to Tuberculosis. Finance Ministry said the World Bank supported program will cover nine States and it will support the government’s National Strategic Plan to end TB in India by 2025.

PB Acharya sworn in as Manipur Governor
  • PB Acharya was sworn-in as Governor of Manipur this afternoon at Raj Bhawan in Imphal. The senior most judge of the High Court of Manipur Justice Lanushungkum Jamir administered him oath of office. Nagaland Governor Acharya will serve as Governor of Manipur as an additional charge from today during the absence, on leave, of Dr Najma Heptulla, Governor of Manipur.
Chairperson of Lokayukta in Arunachal Pradesh
  • In Arunachal Pradesh, Justice Prasanta Kumar Saikia (Retired) has been sworn in as the Chairperson of the Lokayukta in the state. The oath was administered by Governor Dr. B D Mishra at Raj Bhawan in Itanagar. Mr. Yeshi Tsering was also sworn in as Member of the Lokayukta.

DEFENCE

Indigenously developed nuclear-capable missile Prithvi-II
  • India successfully test-fired indigenously developed nuclear-capable missile Prithvi-II as part of a user trial by the Army from a test range off the Odisha coast. The trial of the surface-to-surface missile, which has a strike range of 350 km, was carried out from a mobile launcher from Launch Complex-III of the Integrated Test Range, ITR at Chandipur. The missile is capable of carrying 500 to 1000 kg of warheads and is powered by liquid propulsion twin engines.

ODI rankings
  • India dethroned England to rise to the top of One-day International rankings. As per the latest rankings released by the ICC, India led the chart with 123 points, followed by World Cup hosts England (122) and New Zealand (114).

Virat Kohli becomes fastest batsman to score 20,000 runs
  • India captain Virat Kohli became the fastest batsman to reach 20,000 international runs. Kohli reached the milestone in only his 417th international innings. Kohli, thus, became the 12th batsman and third Indian after Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid to reach 20,000 international runs.
