July 1 – Goods & Services Tax Day
  • The second anniversary of Good & Services Tax (GST) will be celebrated with Hon’ble Union Minister of State of Finance and Corporate Affairs Shri Anurag Thakur presiding over the event. GST was launched on the 1st July, 2017 in a majestic ceremony held in the Central Hall of Parliament on the midnight of 30th June, 2017. Hence, the Government alongwith partners from the trade and industry is celebrating the 2nd Anniversary of GST on 1st July 2019.
July 1 – The National Doctors Day
  • The National Doctors Day was created to accommodate the services of doctors and individuals for the community. The First Doctor’s Day was celebrated in India in the year 1991. July 1 happens to be the birth and death anniversary of the most famous physician of India – Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy. It is hence a tribute to his contributions to the health domain in the country.

RAJASTHAN
5th and 6th Unit of Chabra Super Critical Thermal Power Station
  • In Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot inaugurated 5th and 6th Unit of Chabra Super Critical Thermal Power Station this afternoon. This is the state’s First project based on Super Critical Thermal Power Technology and the estimated cost of this project is 9 thousand 550 Crore Rupees.
NAGALAND
Nagaland set to begin its variant of NRC from July 10
  • Nagaland has decided to start a variant of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) that neighbouring Assam is updating. The exercise for collecting information on locals and non-locals has a 60-day deadline
  • Nagaland’s Home Commissioner R. Ramakrishnan issued a notification for setting up of the Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) aimed at preparing a master list of all indigenous peoples and checking the issuance of fake indigenous inhabitant certificates.

Abu Dhabi to host first ISA’s joint security exercise ISALEX19
  • Representatives of 50 law enforcement agencies of the International Security Alliance are taking part in the first joint security exercise in Abu Dhabi.The International Security Alliance, launched in 2017 in Abu Dhabi, are an international working group to confront organised, transnational and extremist crimes.

Experimental antiviral drug for Nipah virus
  • In a new study, researchers from the National Institutes of Health, U.S., have shown that Remdesivir was able to treat four African green monkeys which were given a lethal dose of Nipah virus. Remdesivir is a broad-spectrum antiviral drug which is currently in phase 2 clinical trial for the treatment of Ebola.

Chief of Indian Coast Guard
  • Shri Krishnaswamy Natarajan took over as 23rd chief of Indian Coast Guard. A 5th Batch Officer of the Indian Coast Guard, he joined service in January 1984.

SPORTS

Veer wins U-19 Asian Squash title
  • In Squash, India won a gold as Veer Chotrani beat compatriot Yash Fadte to win the Under-19 title at the Asian Junior Championship in Macau, China. With this victory, Veer became the third Indian to win the Asian trophy after Ravi Dixit and Vela Senthilkumar.
