Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2021 Indroduced:

Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy introduced the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2021 in the Rajya Sabha.

  • The bill will replace Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Ordinance of 2021 which merged the J & K cadre of the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, and Indian Forest Service with the AGMUT cadre.
  • Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territory cadre, also known as AGMUT cadre.
  • The President had promulgated the ordinance last month to amend the J&K Reorganisation Act, 2019.

DRDO approves 156 Defence Equipment Export:

  • Indian Government has approved 156 defence equipment exports to the friendly nations. DRDO has released the list of these defence equipments.
  • This list include that, 9 aeronautical systems, 16 nuclear-biological-chemical equipment, 41 armament and combat systems, 28 naval systems, 27 electronic and communication systems, 10 life protection items, four missile systems, four micro-electronic devices and seven other material.

HAL signs MoU with MIDHANI:

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for development and production of composite raw materials during the Aero India 2021 in Bengaluru.

  • This is the first time that such a MoU has been signed for composite raw materials.
  • Composites raw materials, mainly in the form of prepregs used in platforms like Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) are currently imported.

MoHUA signed MoU with Zomato:

MoHUA (Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs) signed MoU with Zomato to onboard street food vendors on its food-tech platform, as a part of Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNibhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme.

  • This will give street food vendors online access to thousands of consumers and help these vendors grow their businesses.
  • MoHUA launched a Mobile Application for PMSVANidhi se Samriddhi- Socio-economic profiling of PM SVANidhi beneficiaries and their families to link them to various Central Government Schemes

TN CM inaugurated 5,503 flats cost over of Rs 535 crore

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy  inaugurated 5,503 flats constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 535 crore 27 lakh in Chennai, Vellore, Trichy, Thanjavur, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Theni, Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli districts.

  • These flats were constructed under Vision Plan 2023 Slumless Cities Plan for the poor households.

TN CM laid the foundation stone for various projects worth Rs 2,472 crore 61 lakh:

  • TN Chief Minister Palanisamy laid the foundation stone for the new projects of the Tamil Nadu Drinking Water Drainage Board and the Directorate of Municipalities worth Rs 2,472 crore 61 lakh.
  • The Chief Minister also launched projects worth Rs 1,137 crore 18 lakh on behalf of the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department.

Shri S.N. Subrahmanyan, CEO and Managing Director, L&T Ltd, is appointed as the Chairman of the National Safety Council for a period of three years by the Ministry of Labour & Employment.

FINANCE

RBI Bi-Monetary Policy Rates:

Reserve Bank will announce its final bi-monthly monetary policy review for the financial year 2020-21. The RBI had last revised its policy rate on 22nd of May last year. After that, the committee has kept the interest rates unchanged. In this meet, the repo and reverse repo rate remains unchanged. The rates are projected below.

  • The policy repo rate under the liquidity adjustment facility (LAF) – 4.0 % (Unchanged)
  • The reverse repo rate under the LAF- 3.35 % (Unchanged)
  • Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate- 4.25 %
  • Bank Rate at 4.25 %

Note:

Repo Rate-

Repo Rate is the rate at which commercial banks borrow money by using their securities to the Central bank of our country i.e Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Repo Rate stands for Repurchase Agreement Rate.

Reverse Repo Rate-

RBI gives a rate of interest to the banks for their deposit in the central bank (i.e RBI), that rate is called Reverse Repo Rate. Reverse Repo Rate is a mechanism to absorb the liquidity in the market.
