Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first building of the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi on December 13:

  • The Srikasi Vishwanathar Temple Dham project is part of the Prime Minister’s vision to make the pathway between the temple and the banks of the Ganges easily accessible to devotees. The foundation stone was laid on March 8, 2019 to complete this project.
  • The project has expanded the size of the premises from 5000 square feet to 5 lakh square feet.
  • 23 new buildings have been constructed and more than 40 old temples have been discovered, restored and renovated.

Nitin Gadkari said that to complete National Highway 334-B works early:

  • Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, National Highways 334-B will be completed by January 2022, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said.
  • The 334-B National Highway starts at the UP / Haryana border (Baghpat) and ends at Rogan.
  • It directly connects roads like Chandigarh and Delhi.

 A National Helpline Against Harassment of SC / STs Launches on December 13:

  • The Central Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment scheduled to launch a National Helpline Against Atrocities (NHAA) on 13th Dec 2021 with an aim to ensure proper implementation of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes under the Prevention of Atrocities{PoA} Act, 1989 which was enacted to preventing atrocities on members of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs).
  • The helpline operates 24 hours a day, with a toll-free number 14566 across the country.
  • The service is available in Hindi, English and regional languages of the State/UTs.

Ministry of Defense:

  • Raksha Mantri  Rajnath Singh inaugurated Swarnim Vijay Parv in New Delhi on December 2,2021 to commemorating 50 years of India’s victory in 1971 war.
  • The festival was held to commemorate the contribution of Indian soldiers in the 1971 war for the liberation of Bangladesh.

India’s Harnaaz Sandhu crowned Miss Universe 2021:

  • India’s 21-year-old Harnaaz has won the Miss Universe crown at the contest held in Eilat, Israel on Monday.
  • Mexico’s Andrea Meza, the reigning queen, passed on her crown to the new successor.
  • India had earlier won the coveted crown twice with Sushmita Sen bagging the title in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000.
  • The Harnaaz, hailing from Chandigarh, has now joined the league of these incredible women.

December 12: International Day of Neutrality

  • International Day of Neutrality is a United Nations recognized day held on December 12 each year to raise public awareness of the value of neutrality in international relations.
  • It was officially declared by a UN General Assembly resolution adopted in February 2017 and first observed on December 12, 2017.

 December 12: International Universal Health Coverage Day

  • International Universal Health Coverage Day is celebrated on December 12 every year.
  • International Universal Health Coverage Day aims to raise awareness of the need for strong and resilient health systems and universal health coverage with multi-stakeholder partners.
  • The theme of International Universal Health Coverage Day is “Leave No One’s Health Behind: Invest in health systems for all.”

Vice President Inaugurates ‘EK BHARAT SHRESHTHA BHARAT’ Exhibition:

  • The Regional Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Organised the ‘EK BHARAT SHRESHTHA BHARAT’ Exhibition highlights the various interesting aspects of the paired states of Haryana and Telangana brings the both States together and creates awareness about our rich & diverse cultural heritage.
  • Vice President of the Republic Mr. M Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the ‘EK BHARAT SHRESHTHA BHARAT’ exhibition at Potti Sri Ramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad.

 UNGA has granted Observer Status to International Solar Alliance (ISA):

  • The International Solar Alliance (ISA) becomes Observer Status was given by United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)by adopting resolution 76/123.
  • This decision has been taken based on the UNGA’s Sixth Committee report.
  • In November 2015, ISA was jointly launched by India and France during the 21st session of the United Nations Climate Change COP-21 in Paris, France to promote solar energy among its Member Countries.

Arvind Singh clinches gold, India finish campaign with 6 medals in Asian Rowing Championships:

  • Indian rowers won a total of two golds and four silver medals in the continental meet in Thailand.
  • Indian rower Arvind Singh won the gold medal in the men’s lightweight single sculls on the final day of the Asian Rowing Championships 2021 in Thailand.
  • This is the second straight medal for the 25-year-old Tokyo Olympian at the Asian Championships. Arvind Singh had won a silver in the men’s lightweight double sculls at the previous continental meet.
  • Indian rowers won three more silver medals on Sunday as India concluded the continental championships with a tally of six medals in all – two gold and four silver.
