December 10: Human Rights Day

Human Rights Day is celebrated on 10 December annually across the world.
This Day came into existence on December 10, 1948, when the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations.
This day is observed every year across the world, as it empowers us all.
The day also acknowledges the advocates and defenders of human rights around the world.
The theme for Human Rights Day 2021 is “EQUALITY – Reducing inequalities, advancing human rights.
” This year’s Human Rights Day theme relates to ‘Equality’ and Article 1 of the UDHR – “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.”
United Nations General Assembly also known as UNGA adopted the UDHR e Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the year 1948 on this very day.
This was adopted with an agenda to eradicate the feeling of alienation from any person’s life due to the colour of his/her skin, the background of their community or culture, etc.
The movement gained popularity instantly and almost 200,000 human rights stamps were ordered in advance from the United Nations Postal Administration in the year 1952.

NASA launches X-ray space telescope to unlock secrets of black hole:

US space agency NASA on Thursday launched its new X-ray Mission to unlock the secrets of extreme cosmic objects.
The first space observatory of its kind, the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer, or IXPE, is built to study some of the most energetic objects in the universe — the remnants of exploded stars, powerful particle jets spewing from feeding black holes, and much more.
The mission lifted off at 1:00 a.m. EST (11.30 am IST) aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from historic Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The project is a collaboration between NASA and the Italian Space Agency.
“This begins a new quest to unlock the secrets of some of the most energetic objects in our universe, from black holes to neutron stars,” it added.
IXPE is not as big and strong as the Chandra X-ray Observatory — NASA’s flagship X-ray telescope.
While IXPE lacks in imaging power, it makes up by seeing an aspect of cosmic X-ray sources that has gone largely unexplored until now — polarisation.

Indian origin Anil Menon is SpaceX’s first flight surgeon:

Nasa-turned-SpaceX flight surgeon, Anil Menon is among the 10 latest trainee astronauts who will join the 2021 class of the American space agency as it plans for the first human missions to the moon in more than 50 years.
He is born to Indian and Ukrainian parents and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Menon is a lieutenant colonel in the US air force.
He was SpaceX’s first flight surgeon, helping to launch the company’s first humans to space during NASA’s SpaceX Demo-2 mission and building a medical organisation to support the human system during future missions.
Anil Menon served Nasa as the crew flight surgeon for various expeditions on the International Space Station (ISS).

Government has set a target to raise the share of natural gas in energy mix to 15% in 2030:

The Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Rameswar Teli in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today informed that the Government has set a target to raise the share of natural gas in energy mix to 15% in 2030 from about 6.7% now.
To achieve the target, following initiatives have been taken: –

*Expansion of National Gas Grid to about 35,000 Km from current 20,000K Expansion of CGD network -11th CGD round launched on 17.09.2021. After completion of 11th city gas distribution (CGD) round, 96% of India’s population and 86% of its geographic area would be covered under CGD network.

*Setting up of LNG Terminals.

*Allocation of domestic gas to CNG (T) / PNG (D) in no cut category.

*Allowing marketing and pricing freedom to gas produced from high pressure/high temperature areas, deep water & ultra-deep water and from coal seams.

*SATAT initiatives to promote Bio-CNG.

Considering the demand of natural gas across sectors and the possibility of price of LNG coming down in future, current high prices do not threaten India’s goal to boost the use of gas in its energy mix.

IMO Award for exceptional bravery at sea to Indian Navy, ICG and Master along with crew of tugboat Ocean Bliss:

This year, IMO council awarded Certificate of Commendation to Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and Master along with crew members of tugboat Ocean Bliss for exceptional and courageous efforts towards rescue operation of M/T New Diamond, which caught fire and was drifting towards the coast, laden with inflammable cargo.
The rescue team members of the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and the master and crew of tugboat Ocean Bliss, carried out sustained and effective fire- fighting operations and skilfully towed the vessel away from the coast, thereby preventing loss of life at sea and averted a serious marine pollution incident.

December 10:International Animal Rights Day

The annual International Animal Rights Day (IARD) is observed on 10th December and aims to remember the atrocities on animals by human tyranny.
It calls for the recognition of our Universal Declaration of Animal Rights (UDAR). The goal of this historic campaign is to build on the recognition of human rights and persuade humanity to show kindness and respect due to all sentient creatures.
Thousands of animal rights supporters across the world hold candlelit vigils and other inspiring events to mark the annual IARD.
People unite to remember the billions of animals subjected to deliberate cruelty and killing across the world every year.
This coordinated global day of action has intensified calls for the recognition of the rights of all sentient beings to a proper life, liberty, and natural enjoyment.

December 10: Nobel Prize Day

Nobel Prize Day in honor of Alfred Nobel, who died on this day in 1895. In his last Will and Testament, Nobel established several categories of prizes for accomplishments made for the betterment of mankind.
While his heirs contested the will, Nobel’s wishes prevailed and the first prizes were awarded in 1901.
They are international recognition awards. The Nobel Prize Foundation Prize controls the determination of award recipients, and the annual presentation of awards.
There are several Nobel prizes awarded each year to recognize academic, culture and scientific advances.
One of the most important awards, is the Nobel Peace prize.

Sanket Mahadev Sargar won gold in Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2021:

Sanket Mahadev Sargar won the gold medal in Men’s 55 kg snatch category at the ongoing Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2021.
He created the national record by lifting 113kg in the men’s 55kg snatch category.
Sargar has also qualified for the upcoming 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2021 is being held in Tashkent along with World Weightlifting Championships 2021 from December 7 to 17.
The Indian Contingent is participating in the Weightlifting Championships as well as the Commonwealth Senior Championships.

காமன்வெல்த் பளு தூக்குதல் சாம்பியன்ஷிப் 2021 டிசம்பர் 7 முதல் 17 வரை உலக பளு தூக்குதல் சாம்பியன்ஷிப் 2021 உடன் தாஷ்கண்டில் நடைபெறுகிறது.

Madhya Pradesh implements Police Commissionerate system in Bhopal & Indore:

On December 9, 2021, Madhya Pradesh government issued notification to implement the police Commissionerate system in Bhopal and Indore.
With the announcement made by Home Minister of MP, Narottam Mishra, both the cities will now get police commissioners of ADG rank.
Police commissioners in both the districts will be assisted by two IG rank officers and nine SP rank officers.
Under this system, a woman officer of SP rank will also be posted to deal with crime cases against women and for women’s security.
This system will be implemented after 11 years, since its first announcement.
However, state went ahead in compliance with the directive of Prime Minister’s office.
The Police Commissionerate System essentially divide a district in two parts from policing point of view.
Under this system, part of the city that forms large urbanised settlement are made a geographical area where responsibilities of District Superintendent of Police get transferred to Commissioner of Police.
Apart from that, powers of the Sub-divisional Magistrates (SDM), District Magistrate (DM), and Executive Magistrates of crime, law & order also get transferred to the Police Commissioner.

காவல் துறையின் பார்வையில் இருந்து ஒரு மாவட்டத்தை இரண்டு பகுதிகளாகப் பிரிக்கும் வகையில் காவல் ஆணையர் அமைப்பு உள்ளது.
இந்த அமைப்பின் கீழ், பெரிய நகரமயமாக்கப்பட்ட குடியேற்றத்தை உருவாக்கும் நகரத்தின் ஒரு பகுதி ஒரு புவியியல் பகுதியாக மாற்றப்படுகிறது, அங்கு மாவட்ட காவல்துறை கண்காணிப்பாளரின் பொறுப்புகள் காவல்துறை ஆணையருக்கு மாற்றப்படும்.
இது தவிர, சப்-டிவிஷனல் மாஜிஸ்திரேட்டுகள் (எஸ்டிஎம்), மாவட்ட மாஜிஸ்திரேட் (டிஎம்), மற்றும் குற்றம், சட்டம் மற்றும் ஒழுங்கு நிர்வாக மாஜிஸ்திரேட்டுகளின் அதிகாரங்களும் போலீஸ் கமிஷனருக்கு மாற்றப்படும்.

NITI Aayog to establish 1,000 Atal Tinkering Labs in J&K:

The NITI Aayog has planned to establish 1000 Atal Tinkering Laboratories in Jammu and Kashmir.
Out of 1000 Atal Tinkering Laboratories, 187 will be established by the end of the financial year 2021-22.
Out of 187 ATLs, 31 are being established across government schools of J&k while 50 will be established in several educational institutions like KVs, JNVs and Private schools.
Process of establishing the remaining 106 labs will be initiated soon.
Apart from that, department has also been asked to ensure regular maintenance of infrastructure as well as equipment of these centres in line with other government departments.
ATL is a sub-mission under Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) of Central Government in India.
It is the flagship initiative of AIM, that seeks to nurture an innovative mindset amongst high school students across India.
It is an important government scheme administered under NITI Aayog.
The initiative also seeks to boost cognitive development among children where they are provided avenues to widen their understanding on scientific ideas.

1000 அடல் டிங்கரிங் ஆய்வகங்களில், 187 2021-22 நிதியாண்டின் இறுதிக்குள் நிறுவப்படும்.
187 ATL களில், 31 J&k அரசுப் பள்ளிகளில் நிறுவப்பட்டுள்ளன, 50 KVகள், JNVகள் மற்றும் தனியார் பள்ளிகள் போன்ற பல கல்வி நிறுவனங்களில் நிறுவப்படும்.
மீதமுள்ள 106 ஆய்வகங்கள் அமைக்கும் பணி விரைவில் தொடங்கப்படும்.
அதுமட்டுமின்றி, இந்த மையங்களின் உள்கட்டமைப்பு மற்றும் உபகரணங்களை மற்ற அரசுத் துறைகளுக்கு ஏற்ப முறையாகப் பராமரிப்பதை உறுதிசெய்யவும் துறை கேட்டுக் கொள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளது.
ATL என்பது இந்தியாவில் மத்திய அரசின் அடல் இன்னோவேஷன் மிஷன் (ஏஐஎம்) கீழ் ஒரு துணைப் பணியாகும்.
இந்தியா முழுவதும் உள்ள உயர்நிலைப் பள்ளி மாணவர்களிடையே ஒரு புதுமையான மனநிலையை வளர்க்க முற்படும் AIM இன் முதன்மையான முயற்சி இது.
இது NITI ஆயோக்கின் கீழ் நிர்வகிக்கப்படும் ஒரு முக்கியமான அரசு திட்டமாகும்.
இந்த முயற்சி குழந்தைகளிடையே அறிவாற்றல் வளர்ச்சியை அதிகரிக்க முயல்கிறது, அங்கு அவர்களுக்கு அறிவியல் கருத்துக்கள் பற்றிய புரிதலை விரிவுபடுத்துவதற்கான வழிகள் வழங்கப்படுகின்றன.

Ken-Betwa River Interlinking Project approved by Cabinet:

Ken-Betwa inter-linking of rivers project has been approved by the Union Cabinet, which is chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
At 2020-21 price levels, the overall cost of the Ken-Betwa link project has been estimated at Rs. 44,605 crore.
The Union Cabinet has approved central support for the project in the amount of Rs. 39,317 crore, which includes a grant of Rs. 36,290 crore and a loan of Rs. 3,027 crore.
The project will be implemented through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) known as the Ken-Betwa Link Project Authority (KBLPA).”
The project includes the construction of the Daudhan dam across river Betwa from Ken and the transfer of water through a canal connecting the two rivers, Lower Orr project, Kotha barrage- and Bina complex multipurpose project.

கென்-பெட்வா நதிகளை இணைக்கும் திட்டம் அமைச்சரவையால் அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்டது:

கென்-பெட்வா நதிகளை இணைக்கும் திட்டத்திற்கு பிரதமர் திரு நரேந்திர மோடி தலைமையிலான மத்திய அமைச்சரவை ஒப்புதல் அளித்துள்ளது.
2020-21 விலை மட்டங்களில், கென்-பெட்வா இணைப்பு திட்டத்தின் ஒட்டுமொத்த செலவு ரூ. 44,605 கோடி.
இந்த திட்டத்திற்கு மத்திய அமைச்சரவை ரூ. 39,317 கோடி, இதில் ரூ. 36,290 கோடி மற்றும் கடனாக ரூ. 3,027 கோடி.
கென்-பெட்வா இணைப்பு திட்ட ஆணையம் (KBLPA) எனப்படும் சிறப்பு நோக்க வாகனம் (SPV) மூலம் இந்த திட்டம் செயல்படுத்தப்படும்.
இந்த திட்டத்தில் கெனில் இருந்து பெட்வா ஆற்றின் குறுக்கே தௌதான் அணை கட்டுவதும், லோயர் ஓர் திட்டம், கோத்தா தடுப்பணை மற்றும் பினா காம்ப்ளக்ஸ் பல்நோக்கு திட்டம் ஆகிய இரண்டு நதிகளை இணைக்கும் கால்வாய் வழியாக நீரை மாற்றுவதும் அடங்கும்.
