India joined the G20 ‘Troika’ with Indonesia and Italy:

  •   India has joined ‘G20 Troika’ and will work closely with Indonesia and Italy to ensure consistency and continuity of G20’s agenda.
  •   India will assume G20 Presidency in December 2022 from Indonesia and will convene the G20 Leaders’ Summit for the first time in 2023.
  •   Troika refers to the top grouping within G20 that consists of the current, previous, and incoming presidencies (Indonesia, Italy and India).

India invites UK’s Johnson as 2021 Republic Day chief guest:

  •  United Kingdom Prime Minister, Boris Johnson is expected to be the chief guest at 2021 Republic day.
  •  Johnson on his part, has invited PM Modi to the G-7 summit in the United Kingdom next year.

International Day of persons with disabilities:

  • International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is celebrated every year on 3 December.
  • The day is about promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities at every level of society and development, and to raise awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of political, social, economic, and cultural life.

Advocate’s Day

 Advocate’s day is celebrated in India by the lawyer community on the 3rd of December to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Rajendra Prasad,  the First President of India and a very eminent lawyer himself.

New Zealand declares climate emergency:  

  • New Zealand has declared a “climate emergency” and promised to make its public sector carbon neutral by 2025.
  •  Now , New Zealand  also  joins 32nd countries to declared a climate emergency. Other countries and they  include Japan, Canada, France and the United Kingdom.
  • Prime Minister of  New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern told legislators that the climate emergency declaration was “an acknowledgement of the next generation.

Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhary becomes new Director-General of BRO:

  •  Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhary has been appointed as the 27th Director General of Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
  •  The BRO is responsible for construction and maintenance of all border roads including those along the frontiers with China and Pakistan.

Gita Gopinath promoted as IMF First Deputy Managing Director:

  • The Indian American, Gita Gopinath has become the first Deputy Managing Director of International Monetary Fund.
  • She is the first Indian to take up the top role in the organisation.
  • First Deputy Managing Director is the second top post in IMF next to the Managing Director.

Anju Bobby George wins Woman of the Year Award from World Athletics:  

  • The Indian Athlete Anju Bobby George has won the Woman of the Year Award from World Athletics.
  • She is a gold medallist in 2005 IAAF World Athletics Finals and She was the first Indian athlete to win bronze medal.
  • Anju was awarded the Arjuna award in 2002, Padma Shri in 2004, Khel Ratna in 2003.
  • In 2021, she won the BBC lifetime achievement award in the category of Best Athlete.

Government of India launches SRESTHA Scheme: 

  • The Government of India is to launch SRESTHA Scheme for the Scheduled Caste students.
  • The scheme will provide quality residential education to the students.
  • The scheme is to be implemented by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

SpaceX launches rocket carrying Blacksky, Starlink satellites:

  • The SpaceX recently launched fifty satellites.
  • These satellites are to join the Starlink mega constellation and the satellites were launched on Falcon 9 rocket.
  • SpaceX launched 48 Starlink satellites and two Earth Observation satellites called Blacksky Global.
  • The Blacksky Global is building a satellite constellation which is capable of providing images of any part of the earth.
  • The satellites were launched from Florida.
