Technological Innovations and Strategies for Farmers’ Prosperity in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh

  • The two-day ‘Brainstorming Session on Technological Innovations and Strategies for Farmers’ Prosperity in Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh’ was inaugurated in New Delhi by Union Agriculture Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar. The Minister also launched diagnostic kits, vaccines developed by different ICAR institutes and 8 ICAR mobile Apps during the occasion.

HRD Ministry launches National Digital Library of India

  • Human Resource Development Ministry under its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology, NMEICT has launched the National Digital Library of India project to develop a framework of virtual repository of learning resources with a single-window search facility.

Integrated Textiles Tourism Complex in Meghalaya

  • In Meghalaya, the Union Minister of Textiles Smriti Zubin Irani laid the foundation stone of the Integrated Textiles Tourism Complex at Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi district in the presence of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.

TAMILNADU

Education Dept launches exclusive 24-hour tv channel for students

  • The Education Department in Tamil Nadu has launched an exclusive 24-hour television channel for the school students. Interviews and motivational programmes on joining civil services, defence forces and banks would be aired by the television as a form of career guidance.

First electric bus in Chennai

  • The first electric bus in Chennai has been flagged off by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy. It is being operated on a trial basis from the Central Railway Station to Tiruvanmiyur, four trips a day. The fully air-conditioned bus has 32 seats. It has inbuilt features like GPS and fire detection and suppression system. It can be monitored remotely by transport officials.

JAMMU & KASHMIR

Indian Army establishes 45 Army Goodwill schools in J&K

  • In Jammu and Kashmir, as a part of this goodwill initiative, the Indian Army has established 45 Army Goodwill schools in J&K wherein over 14 thousand students are studying at present. In these Army Goodwill Schools, children belonging to low-income group families are given admission for pursuing their studies free of cost.

Democratic Republic of Congo announces new government

  • In the Democratic Republic of Congo, a coalition government was announced, seven months after the inauguration of new President Felix Tshisekedi. Mr Tshisekedi emerged victorious in elections that marked the Democratic Republic of Congo’s first peaceful transition of power since the mineral-rich nation gained independence from Belgium in 1960.

Chandrayaan-2 scans Mitra crater

  • Chandrayaan-2’s orbiter or mother spacecraft has scanned a crater on the moon named after 20th century’s acclaimed radio physicist Sisir Kumar Mitra. At 25 degrees Kelvin (minus 248 degrees Celsius), the northern polar region is believed to be one of the coldest spots in the solar system.

7th Community Radio Sammelan

  • The Seventh Community Radio Sammelan will be held at Dr. BR Ambedkar Bhawan, New Delhi from 27th to 29th August 2019. The Sammelan, being organized by Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, will witness participation of all operational Community Radio Stations across the country.
  • The theme of this year’s Sammelan is ‘Community Radio for SDGs’. 

MoU, AGREEMENTS & CABINET APPROVALS

MoU Signed between Department of Social Justice & Empowerment and NACO

  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed here today between the Department of Social Justice, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and National AIDS Control Organization (NACO)Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. One of the important features of Mou is Inclusion of target groups of NACO and National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) in the programmes of NAPDDR & NACO for awareness generation.

AWARDS

4th edition of National Entrepreneurship Awards

  • The 4th edition of National Entrepreneurship Awards will be held in November this year. In total, as many as 45 specially designed awards – 39 Enterprise Awards and 6 Awards for Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Builders will be bestowed. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has called for nominations from the entrepreneurs for the National Entrepreneurship Awards.
