1.Vikas Kumar named as Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation:

Vikas Kumar has been appointed as the new Managing Director of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation

(DMRC). He succeeds Mangu Singh, whose tenure ended on March 31, 2022.  Kumar is the third managing director of the DMRC after E Sreedharan and Mangu Singh.

He will hold the post for a term of five years.

DMRC Opened: 24 December 2002.

2.Iga Swiatek wins Miami Open tennis title 2022:

Polish tennis player Iga Sviatek defeated Naomi Osaka of Japan in Miami, Florida, USA.

In the final of the 2022 Miami Open Tennis Tournament. For Swiątek, this is his fourth WTA 1000 title and sixth overall singles title. Also, this is the 17th time he has won the title. With this victory, Swedek has moved up to No. 1 in the women’s rankings.

  1. Australia wins 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup:

Australia beat England by 71 runs to win the seventh Women’s World Cup in the final at the Hockley Oval in Christchurch, New Zealand. Australia set a record of 356 runs.

 Australia’s Alyssa Healy has been named the tournament’s best player.

  1. International Day for Mining Awareness and Assistance in Mining Operations is observed on April 4, 2022:

The United Nations International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance for Mining Operations is celebrated on April 4 each year.

Purpose: The purpose of this day is to raise awareness about landmines and to advance towards their elimination. “Mining operation” refers to several attempts to remove landmines and explosive remnants of war and to fence off dangerous areas.

Theme of 2022:

The United Nations Mining Operations Service 2022 marks the day under the theme “Safe Land, Safe Steps, Safe Home”. This day was first observed on 4 April 2006.

  1. The 83rd National Table Tennis Championship 2022 will be held in Meghalaya:

Meghalaya is set to host the 83rd National Table Tennis Championship 2022. It will be held from April 18 to 25 at the NEHU SAI Indoor Training Center in Shillong. This is the second time that Northeastern State has hosted the largest table tennis tournament in the world. The competition is being held to mark the 50th anniversary of the state.

  1. Chandrapur district in Maharashtra is the third hottest place in the world:

Chandrapur in the state of Maharashtra is the third hottest city in the world with a maximum temperature of 43.2 degrees Celsius, according to the El Dorado weather website. According to the Regional Meteorological Department (RMC), Nagpur was the hottest city in Vidarbha with a maximum temperature of 41.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Akola.

The city of Chaos in Mali is the hottest place on earth with 44.4 degrees Celsius, according to El Torado weather. Mali’s Chekhov is second on the list with 43.8 degrees Celsius. Chandrapur, meanwhile, is third on the list.

  1. Abrajita Sharma of India elected to prestigious ITU post:

The Indian official has been elected as the Vice-Chairman of the Council Standing Committee on Administration and Management of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and has been given the chairmanship of India. Ms. Abrajita Sharma, IP & DAF Service Officer, has been appointed Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Administration and Management at the International Telecommunication Union Council Sessions in Geneva from March 21 to March 31, 2022.

  1. The 4th edition of the Indian Boat and Maritime Exhibition (IBMS) concludes in Kochi:

The 4th edition of the India Boat and Maritime Exhibition (IBMS) was held at the Polkatty Palace in Kochi, Kerala. IBMS is India’s only and most influential boat and maritime exhibition. The event is organized by the Cruise Expo in Kochi. IBMS 2022 showcased leading international brands and domestic boat manufacturers across the country. About 45 exhibitors and two international exhibitors from all over India participated in the exhibition. Many public sector companies and agencies like Kochi Port Trust, Indian Cost Card, Indian Navy and Kochi Shipyard participated in the exhibition. At the heart of IBMS Expo 2022 are the requirements for MSME in the maritime and boating industry.

  1. IAF Celebrates 60 Years of Distinguished Service by Sadak Helicopters:

The Indian Air Force hosted a conference on 02 April 2022 at the Air Force Base at Hakimpet to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Cadet Helicopter service at the IAF.

The conference was inaugurated by Raksha Minister Rajnath Singh. Raksha Mantri released a special card about Sadak helicopters, a coffee table book and a memoir during the conference.

  1. PharmEasy’s has appointed Aamir Khan as its brand ambassador:

PharmEasy, the consumer healthcare “super app”, has released its new campaign. It introduces Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan as its brand ambassador. API Holdings Limited is responsible for the PharmEasy brand. This partnership will help in the growth of the brand and in creating consumer awareness about health in India.

  1. India’s unemployment rate fell to 7.6% in March from 8.1% in February 2022:

According to the Center for Monitoring the Indian Economy (CMIE), the overall unemployment rate in India fell to 7.6 per cent in March 2022. The rate was 8.10 percent in February 2022. Despite the overall unemployment rate, the report said. The country is declining and this is even more so for a “poor” country like India. The decline in the rate shows that the economy is back on track after a two-year impact on the Govt-19.
