COVID-19: Industries operating outside city limits allowed to reopen from April 20

All industries operating in rural areas, outside city limits, will be allowed to reopen from April 20, provided they follow social distancing norms and other safeguards against COVID-19 infection, according to a new set of lockdown directives issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday.

Also, the “wearing of face covers and masks is compulsory in public places and workplaces.” Spitting is a punishable offense and sale of liquor, gutkha and tobacco should be strictly prohibited.

Index Numbers of Wholesale Price in India (Base: 2011-12=100) Review for the month of March,2020

The official Wholesale Price Index for ‘All Commodities’ (Base: 2011-12=100) for the month of March,2020 declined by 0.90% to 121.1 (provisional) from 122.2 (provisional) for the previous month.

The Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar launched the All India Agri Transport Call Centre at a function in Krishi Bhavan today to facilitate inter-state movement of perishables in the current situation of lockdown due to the COVID-19 threat. The Call Centre numbers are 18001804200 and 14488. These numbers can be called from any mobile or landline phones any time of the day or night.

IMD announces that it expects monsoon rainfall to be normal this year

Issues the first stage long range forecast for south-west monsoon season rainfall

Monsoons are expected to hit Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala on June 1

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today announced that it expects monsoon rainfall to be normal this year. “Southwest monsoon seasonal (June to September) rainfall over the country as a whole is likely to be normal (96-104%),” the IMD said in its first stage Long Range Forecast (LRF) for monsoons.

  • In a mission mode, Railways Plan to manufacture 1,00,000 of the same in May 2020
  • Will set an example for other stake holders to prepare such protective coveralls for health workers
  • Production Units, Zonal Railway Workshops and field units of Indian Railways have geared up to manufacture PPE coveralls in large numbers

Government’s e-learning portal offers resources to Tamil Nadu students

To ensure students of state board schools in Tamil Nadu have access to learning material during the ongoing lockdown, the School Education Department now has an e-learning portal which has aggregated content for students of classes 1 to 12.

The portal- https://e-learn.tnschools.gov.in/welcome hosts resources in all subjects in both Tamil and English. This includes chapter-wise video lessons, short concept explainers and for younger students, songs and activity videos as well.

COVID-19 | GMAT to be conducted online from Apr 20

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), accepted as admission criterion by over 2,000 business schools across the globe, will be conducted online from April 20 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Global Management Admission Council (GMAC) which conducts the test, said the registrations were opened on Tuesday.

Rupee slides 17 paise to hit all-time low of 76.44 against US dollar

The Indian rupee pared early gains and settled for the day 17 paise lower at an all-time low of 76.44 (provisional) against the US dollar on Wednesday, tracking weak domestic equities and strengthening of the American currency overseas.

Forex traders said firm US dollar index weighed on the local unit. Besides, investor sentiments remain fragile amid concerns over the impact of coronavirus outbreak on the domestic as well as global economy.

  • He has been variously called the father of palaeontology, ichnology, and architecture, and is widely considered one of the greatest painters of all time.

In the present era it is arguably the most famous painting in the world.
