Nobel Peace Prize: 2022

  • Peace Nobel awarded to Ales Bialiatski and 2 human rights organisations from Russia,Ukraine
  • The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the 2022 Novel Peace Prize to human rights advocate Ales Bialiatski from Belarus, the russian human rights organisation Memorial and the Ukrainian human rights organisation Center for Civil Liberties.
  • “They have for many years promoted the rights to criticize power and protect the fundamental rights of citizens, “the Norwegian Nobel Committee said.

National News

Central government’s new plan to publish land documents in various languages:

  • Since there are language barriers in reading land documents so that the central government has taken steps to publish the Land Registration Document (ROR) in 22 languages ​​including regional languages.
  • State Governments can choose these optional languages ​​as per their requirement.
  • This ambitious project of multilingual RORs is being undertaken at a cost of Rs.11 crores.

Cyber Jaagrukta Diwas

  • Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) observed the “Cyber Jaagrukta Diwas” to create cyber security awareness among all employees.
  • Cyber Jaagrukta Diwas is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Home Affairs that requires all government organizations to spread cybersecurity awareness. It is observed on first Wednesday of every month.
  • The purpose is to create awareness and sensitize Internet users on safeguarding against cyber frauds and cybercrimes.

Draft Notification for BH series amendment

  • The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued a draft notification G.S.R 672(E) on 04 Oct 2022 to notify amendments in the rules governing Bharat (BH) series registration mark.
  • MoRTH had introduced BH series registration mark vide G.S.R. 594(E) dated 26 August 2021.
  • In an endeavour to further improve as well as widen the scope of BH series implementation, MoRTH has proposed new rules with the following key features:
  • The transfer of vehicles with BH series registration mark to other persons, who are eligible or ineligible for BH series, has been facilitated.
  • Vehicles currently having regular registration mark can also be converted to BH series registration mark subject to payment of requisite tax, to facilitate persons who subsequently become eligible for BH series registration mark.
  • To provide further ease of life to citizen, amendment in rule 48 has been proposed to provide flexibility to submit application for BH series either at the place of residence or place of work.
  • The Working Certificate to be submitted by private sector employees has been further strengthened to prevent misuse.

OPEC Plus Plan to Cut Crude Oil Production:

  • OPEC has decided to cut crude oil production by 20 lakh barrels per day.
  • If OPEC cuts crude oil production, it will lead to a significant rise in petrol and diesel prices in India.
  • Consequently, there is a danger that the price of a barrel of crude oil will reach 100 dollars in the international market.
  • The new production procedure, which will come into effect from November, will remain in force till December 2023.

New Mobile App has launched by UPSC for UPSC Aspirants:

  • The Union Public Service Commission has launched an android mobile application that will allow people to access examination and recruitment-related information.
  • Union Public Service Commission has launched UPSC android app available on Google play store,”This app, however, would not allow to fill application forms using mobile,” .

Establishment of Task Force for cheetak Monitoring under Union Ministry:

  • The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has set up a task force to monitor cheetah in Kuno National Park, Madhya Pradesh.
  • The National Tiger Conservation Commission (NTCA) will facilitate the work of the cheetah Task Force and provide all necessary assistance and the task force will remain in force for two years.
  • Cheetah restoration is part of a front model to restore the original habitats of cheetah and their biodiversity.

New regional branch of India’s competition commission opened in mumbai:

  • Union Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, inaugurated the Competition Commission of India’s (CCI) Regional Office (West) in Mumbai, in a virtual event.
  • Competition Commission of India (CCI) is a statutory body of the Government of India responsible for enforcing the Competition Act, 2002, it was duly constituted in March 2009.
  • It focuses on Consumer welfare and Ensure fair and healthy competition in economic activities in the country.

National Assembly Standing Committee appoints Kanimozhi as one of the chairman:

  • MP Kanimozhi has been appointed as the Chairman of Central Government’s Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Standing Committee.31 MPs are included in the committee headed by her.
  • Kanimozhi got this leadership position because of his good work by adopting the Sri Venkatesapuram village in tuticorin districts.

Centre appoints Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma as presiding officer of UAPA Tribunal

  • The Presiding officer has been appointed to review the ban on PFI and its alliances, after the Centre recently banned it for five years, after seizing incriminating documents during the search operations at the offices of the outfit and the residences of its office bearers.
  • He is currently serving as a judge in the Delhi High Court.

ISRO planning to launch 36 satellites:

  • Geosynchronous satellite successfully tested and ready for launch of 36 satellites.
  • In the first commercial launch this is the first time ISRO has used an Indian rocket to put a 6 ton load satellite into earth’s orbit.

36th National Games: 2022

  • Tamil Nadu men’s team won the gold medal in the national sports basketball tournament.
    • In the men’s basketball (5*5) final between Tamil Nadu and Punjab, Tamil Nadu won the gold medal with a score of 97-89.
    • Tamil Nadu team won silver medal in women’s basketball competition.
  • Telangana’s Sai Praneeth wins gold medal in men’s badminton singles final

36th National Games : Badminton title 

  • Aakarshi Kashyap (Chhattisgarh) dominated Malvika Bansod (Maharashtra) to win the Badminton Women’s Singles gold in the 36th National Games at the PDDU Indoor Stadium in Surat.
  • B Sai Praneeth (Telangana)competited with Mithun Manjunath(Karnataka) and wins the Men’s Singles gold.
  • The Karnataka team of Ashwini Ponnappa and K Sai Prateek won the gold in mixed doubles badminton competition.
