Nobel Prize for Literature-2022

  • French author Annie Ernaux wins 2022 Nobel Prize for literature
  • The Nobel prize in literature has been awarded to Annie Ernaux for the courage and clinical acuity with which she uncovers the roots, estrangements and collective restraints of personal memory.

1st  Indian woman to scale Everest dead

  • Savita Kanswal, 26, who this year became the first Indian woman to climb Mount Everest and Mount Makalu in just 16 days and created a national record
  • Kanswal, who was from Uttarkashi’s Lonthru village, was part of the group of 41trainee mountaineers and instructors when the avalanche hit them near the Dokrani Bamak glacier.

New ‘Bharat Series’ Launched for Nationwide Motoring vehicle:

  • New ‘Bharat Series’ Vehicle Registration Scheme has been implemented in 24 States and Union Territories.
  • This information was revealed through the resolution of the 41st annual meeting of the Transport Development Council held in Bangalore last month.
  • Through this new ‘Bharat Series’ vehicle registration procedure, private vehicle passengers or tourist vehicles will not be stopped at any check post across the country.
  • Also exempted from paying vehicle taxes based on state and local practices.

HDFC Bank Launches New App “Smart Hub Merchant”:

  • HDFC Bank has launched a new app called ‘SmartHub Vyapar’ for small and medium businesses.
  • Merchants can use it to grow business, accept digital payments and get instant business loans.
  • It is a one-stop platform to provide all the banking and business solutions a merchant needs to run a business

Post Office Monthly Income Scheme – Post Office Monthly Income Scheme:

  • Post Office Monthly Income Scheme (POMIS) is a small savings scheme supported by the Government of India.
  • The interest amount is paid on a monthly basis according to the deposit amount of the investors. The interest amount paid can be withdrawn at any time.
  • POMIS account can be opened as individual or joint account. A maximum of 3 people can be kept together in a joint account.

“Woman as Woman Does” – Exhibition Opening in Mumbai:

  • Mumbai’s famous Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) is celebrating its centenary this year.
  • And to celebrate the 75th year of independence, a 27-person exhibition titled “Woman as Woman Does” will be held.
  • The Museum of Indian Women Artists was inaugurated on August 13. The museum will be functional from August 13 to October 16.
  • In this exhibition, there is an amazing body of work that reveals the images and texts that accompany the feminist movement in India.

KCR launches his national party ‘Bharat Rashtra Samithi’

  • The Telangana Rashtra Samithi, headed by Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhara Rao, has been transformed into a national party as ‘Bharat Rashtra Samithi’.
  • Telangana Chief Minister convened a general meeting of his party in the capital Hyderabad for this purpose on Vijayadashami day.
  • In this meeting, K. Chandrasekhara Rao brought a resolution to change the name of the party. This resolution was carried unanimously.

  • Bank of India has announced the appointment of Mohit Bhatia as its Chief Executive Officer.
  • Prior to this, he worked as Head of Sales and Marketing at Canara Robeco Asset Management Company Limited.

Archaeological discoveries

In Thenpennai River 2000-year-old old man’s tomb was discovered :

  • Researchers have found a 2000-year-old urn pots used in Paleolithic age on the banks of the Thenpennai River in Talavanur near Villupuram.
  • Also, the researchers found black colored Emathazhi pottery and 4 types of edge markings pottery.

USA Launches Driverless Robot Taxi

  • Completely driverless robo-taxis have been introduced on the urban streets of San Francisco, USA, for the public to pay for rides at night.
  • These robo-taxis are running as per the command of the computer. The cruise company that has introduced it has said that passengers can go safely and without fear and these taxis will bring about a revolution in transportation.

International Hockey Federation Awards 2022:

  • Every year the International Hockey Federation presents awards in various categories to honor the best women and men players.The best goalkeeper award at this stage was announced.
  • Sreejesh was awarded the best goalkeeper award in the men’s category and Savita Punia, the captain of the Indian hockey team, was awarded the best goalkeeper award in the women’s category.

India’s Srikrishna wins world 6-red snooker title

  • Srikrishna Suryanarayan won the World 6-Red Snooker Championship title by defeating Bahrain’s Habib Sabah 5-1 in a nine-frame final.
  • India’s Laxman Rawat won the title last season.

Shooting games was again added to Commonwealth Games in 2026:

  • The Commonwealth Games were started in 1930 and are held every 4 years and lastly held in Birmingham, England last July and August.
  • The next 23rd Commonwealth Games will be held from 17th to 29th  March 2026 in 4 cities including Melbourne in the state of Victoria, Australia.
  • Shooting, which was removed from the recent Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, has been again added and wrestling, archery have been removed from the common wealth games.

Indian Men’s Junior Skeet Team Wins Bronze Medal:

  • India won another bronze at the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Shooting Championship in Osijek, Croatia.
  • The trioika of Bavdek Singh Gill, Rituraj Bundela and Abhay Singh Sekhon defeated Slovakia in the bronze medal match of the skeet team.
  • This is India’s fourth medal and second bronze of the championship.

National Games Swimming Competition: Sajan Prakash wins gold:

  • Sajan Prakash won gold medal in men’s 200m butterfly at the 36th National Games with a new record.
  • Olympian Sajan Prakash, representing Kerala, clocked 1:59.56 seconds to win gold in the final, breaking his own National Games record from the previous edition in Kerala.
  • This is Sajan Prakash’s second gold medal at the 2022 National Games after Men’s 100m .
