Garuda Aerospace-led ‘Drone Yatra’ was inaugurated

  • Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Anurag Thakur inaugurated the Garuda Aerospace-led ‘Drone Yatra’ at Agni College of Technology in Thalambur, Tamil Nadu on December 6, 2022.
  • The main aim is to Raise Tech Awareness, to cover all 775 districts of the country within the next 75 days.
    • “Under this 30 teams will be allotted to cover these 775 districts with equipment vans. In each of these vans, there will be drones, pilots and instructors and they will be hosting drone skilling and training conferences in every district, with a minimum of two conferences in colleges and schools.”

World’s longest double-decker road path in Nagpur

  • Nagpur Metro in Maharashtra has received the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the longest double-decker viaduct metro measuring 3.14 km on Wardha Road.
  • The double-decker road path has already been certified as the longest structure in Asia and India by Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records respectively.

  • At the 9th World Ayurveda Congress in Panaji, Goa on December 11, 2022 Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 3 institutes – All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Goa, National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM) Ghaziabad and National Institute of Homeopathy (NIH) in Delhi is dedicated to the nation said by the Union Ministry of AYUSH.
  • Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate the first phase of Mopa International Airport, which is coming up in North Goa, on December 11, 2022.

Forbes Asia’s Heroes of Philanthropy list

  • Indian billionaires Gautam Adani, Shiv Nadar, and Ashok Soota, as well as Malaysian-Indian businessman Brahmal Vasudevan and his lawyer wife Shanthi Kandiah, were named in the 16th edition of Forbes Asia’s Heroes of Philanthropy list released on 6th December 2022.
  • The list was unranked and it “highlights leading altruists in the Asia-Pacific region who demonstrated a strong personal commitment to philanthropic causes,” said by the Forbes.

Oxford’s Word of the Year for 2022

  • “Goblin mode” has been selected by online vote as its word of the year; it defines the term as “a type of behavior which is unapologetically self-indulgent, lazy, slovenly, or greedy, typically in a way that rejects social norms or expectations.”
  • The word of the year is to reflect “the ethos, mood, or preoccupations of the past twelve months.” For the first time this year’s winning phrase was chosen by public vote.

World’s largest telescope to be built in Australia

  • World’s largest telescope Construction has begun in Australia, and the structure will consist of 1, 31,000 antennas strung together like a Christmas tree.
  • These works are being carried out with the cooperation of 16 countries with the international platforms of South Africa and Australia.
    • Astronomers have found that this telescope will be able to display new information discoveries from space to the outside world in the next 50 years

“Nilam App” was introduced in Tamil Nadu

  • A software service called ‘Nilam App’ has been developed by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in Erode District, Tamil Nadu.
  • In the Nilam App, the details of all the farmers are surveyed and their name, telephone number, affected land area, survey number, source of irrigation water, electricity facility, details of micro-irrigation installed, various details including cultivated crops are recorded through this app.

“Utharam Uyarththuvom scheme” has been started In Tamil Nadu

  • District collector launched an innovative program called “Utharam Uyarththuvom” at the Government Higher Secondary School located in Kavundampalayam, Karur District, Tamil Nadu.
  • Under this scheme, girls who can study from 9th to 12th standard will be diagnosed with hemoglobin level in the abdomen and the presence of anemia in children will be detected early and treatment will be given according to the instructions of the health organization.

First multi-faith crematorium inaugurated in Hyderabad

  • Hyderabad now has its first funeral complex that serves Hindus, Christians and Muslims. And it’s Located at Fathullaguda in LB Nagar and developed across 6.5 acres, the complex was inaugurated by Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao.
  • It’s named as Mukti Ghat, the complex has been conceived as a model crematorium by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and has been built at a cost of Rs 16.25 crore.

First Natural gas (CNG) powered bus was introduced in Tamil Nadu

  • A bus company run by Mr. Gokulnath from Tirupur district in Tamil Nadu has introduced compressed natural gas (CNG) fueled buses on the Tirupur – Palladam – Puliampatti
  • A total mileage of 450 km per cylinder of 90 kg. This is equivalent to 600 liters of diesel, according to which he has introduced a CNG bus for the first time in Tamil Nadu.

National Bamboo Movement Advisory Committee Member was appointed

  • The National Bamboo Movement is functioning under the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The movement has constituted an advisory committee for the development of the bamboo sector.
  • Bamboo researcher N. Bharathi from Tamil Nadu has been appointed as a member of the committee.
    • Bharathi runs a biotechnology company named ‘Growmore Biotech Limited’ at Hosur Chipgat. He also holds a doctorate in agriculture.

  • Punjab National Bank (PNB) won two prestigious awards at the Conference, with the runner-up award for the Best Fintech Collaboration and a special award for Best AI & ML Bank.

  • The cyclonic storm will be named ‘Cyclone Mandous’, the name which is given by the United Arab Emirates which means a treasure box in the Arabic language. The cyclone is likely to cross the coast on 8th December, 2022.
  • A heavy spell of rainfall is expected over north Tamil Nadu, south Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during 7th-9th December 2022.
