Home Minister Amit Shah has launched an anthem and mascot of 36 National Games

  • The 36th National Games is to held on September 29 to October 12 at six cities in the state namely Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar.
  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched the anthem and mascot for the 36th National Games at Ahamedabad.
  • The theme of the anthem is Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and mascot is named as Savaj which means cub in Gujarati.
  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also launched the official website of national games and mobile App NNGujarat.

University Grant Commission has launched “new research grant and fellowship schemes”

  • On the occasion of teachers Day the University Grant Commission has launched “new research grant and fellowship schemes.
  • Two new research schemes:
  • Research Grant for In-Service Faculty Members– seeks to provide research opportunities to regularly appointed faculty members.
  • Dr DS Kothari Research Grant for Newly Recruited Faculty Members-will provide research opportunities to regularly appointed faculty members.
  • Three fellowship schemes:
  • Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child
  • Dr Radhakrishnan UGC Post-Doctoral Fellowship– will offer an opportunity to carry out advanced studies and research in Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences including languages in Indian universities and institutions.
  • Fellowship for Superannuated Faculty Members– is being launched with an aim to provide research opportunities to retired teachers

Rashtriya Puruskar Portal (https://awards.gov.in ) launched by the Government of India

  • Rashtriya Puruskar Portal (https://awards.gov.in ) was launched to bring together all the awards of various ministries, departments of the Government of India under one platform.
  • For the first time in the history of India, with this portal, information regarding awards would be available to the public on a single digital platform including their eligibility criteria, selection procedure, and details of past awardee.
  • The last date for nominations and recommendation for the Padma Awards is on September 15 and the last date for the national Award for Excellence in Forestry 2022 is September 30.

Binesh Kumar Tyagi named as the chairman and managing director of Shipping Corporation of India

  • The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Captain Binesh Kumar Tyagi as the chairman and managing director of Shipping Corporation of India Limited.
  • Captain Tyagi was currently the director looking after the liner and passenger services division at Shipping Corporation of India.
  • He joined in Shipping Corporation of India on 1990,and also served in the technical and fleet personnel departments

The Liz Truss name as the New UK prime minister

  • Today Liz Truss was named as Britain’s next prime minister.
  • Truss came out on top in a vote of Conservative Party members, winning by 81,326 votes to 60,399.
  • Liz Truss is the third female Prime Minister in Britain, after Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May.
  • She is currently serving as the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs since 2021.
  • Since 2019 she is the Minister for Women and Equalities.

Innovation Girl Program (Puthumai Pen Thittam) lanuched by Chief Minister M.K.Stallin.

  • Today,Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal along with M.K. Stalin has launched the Innovation Girl Program (Puthumai Pen Thittam) for the female students studying in the government schools from 6th to 12th and enrolling in higher education through Muvalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Guarantee Scheme.
  • Government of Tamil nadu has provided Rs 1000 to increase the higher education enrollment of female student studying in the government school in Tamil nadu.
  • Tamil Nadu government has also launched a website penkalvi.tn.gov.in to apply under this scheme.
  • Through this programme, approximately 6, 00,000 female students could benefit each year. For this scheme, an amount of 698core was allotted.

  • Indian Railways set a best ever record in the month of August freight loading of 119.32 MT.
  • The incremental loading in the month of August a growth of 7.86 percent over the previous year 2021.

  • 71 MT in Fertilizer
  • Balance other goods and 0.62 MT Containers
  • The freight NTKMs (Net tonne kilometers) have increased from 63 Billion in August ’21 to 73 Billion in August’22 registering a growth of 16 %

In August 2022 the Overall Coal Production Increases by 8.27% to 58.33 Million Ton

  • As per the provisional statistics of the Ministry of Coal in the month of August 2022 the overall Coal Production increased by 8.27%.
  • The overall power generation in Aug 2022 has been 3.14% higher than the power generated in Aug 2021.
  • Of the top 37 coal producing mines in the country,25 mines produced more than 100 % while the production level of five mines stood between 80%.

O. Chidambaram Pillai birth Anniversary

  • O. Chidambaram Pillai was born in Tirunelveli District on 5 September 1872.
  • He was known as Kappalottiya Tamizhan (“Tamil Helmsman) and he is also an Indian Freedom Fighter.
  • He was the founder of Swadeshi Steam Navigation Company in 1906, he also launched the first indigenous Indian shipping service between Tuticorin(India) and Colombo (Sri Lanka).
  • Today our nation is celebrating his 150th birth Anniversary.
