Sarbananda Sonova inaugurated the Global Convention and Exhibition on Traditional Medicine.

  • Union AYUSH and Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonova inaugurated the first B2B Global Conference and Exhibition on Traditional Medicine under Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Guwahati.
  • Also, he inaugurated a four-day exhibition on traditional medicine at the same premises today.

Pakistan has launched a digital census

  • Pakistan introduced its first digital population and housing census in an attempt to secure each person’s population data ahead of the parliamentary elections to be held this year.
  • For the first time, transgender people will be calculated in the census, the Pakistani government said.

NTPC, the country’s largest integrated power utility, is commissioning India’s first air-cooled condenser in Jharkhand

  • India’s first Air Cooled Condenser Installed Supercritical Plant NTPC is dedicated to water conservation through reduction, reuse and recycling.
  • NTPC has started commercial operation of 1st unit of 660 MW capacity at North Karanpura (3*660 MW) in Jharkhand.These require almost a third less water than traditional water-cooled condensers.

Metro Rail between Bengaluru and Hosur:

  • This metro rail project has been launched to connect Bommachandra in Bangalore and Hosur in Tamil Nadu.
  • It is about 20.5 km long of which 11.7 km is in Karnataka and remaining 8.8 km in Tamil Nadu.

Archaeological discovery

Discovery of 16th century idol of Goddess Kali

  • Archeologists have discovered the statue in the midst of agricultural fields near Walajabad in Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu.
  • This idol is 400 years old. The idol is sitting with a crown on its head, a fire flame behind its head, kundalam on its ears, and a cymbal on its feet.

Porter Prize 2023

  • In a remarkable achievement in recognition of the efforts of the health sector and particularly the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in managing Covid, the Government of India has won the Porter Prize 2023.
  • The prize was announced at “The India Dialogue” organized last month by the Institute for Competitiveness (IFC) and the US Asia Technology Management Center (USATMC) at Stanford University.
