GoI launches Ayushman Bharat health scheme for CAPF personnel

The Union Minister for Home Affairs, Amit Shah has launched Ayushman Bharat Health Scheme for the Central Armed Police Force.

  • Under this scheme CAPF, Assam rifles and National Security Guard, and their family members will be covered by AB PM-JAY
  • The beneficiaries will be able to avail the medical benefits at 24,000 hospitals in India.

Vice President unveils Integrated Weapons System Design Centre in Hyderabad

Vice-President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu has unveiled the Integrated Weapons System Design Centre.

  • This centre was inaugurated at DRDO’s APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex in Hyderabad .
  • This centre will increase the capability in design and development of command-and-control systems for surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems and ballistic missile defence (BMD) systems.

  • The china attracted 163 billion dollars inflows in 2020 while US attracted 134 billion dollars
  • Overall, the global FDI had fell by 42% in 2020, attracting an inflow of an estimated dollar 859 billion, compared to dollar 1.5 trillion in 2019.

Meghalaya state government wins National Award for Best Electoral Practices 2020

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer Meghalaya has won the National Best Electoral Practices Awards 2020 for Information Technology (IT) applications in Elections by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

  • This award was given to Meghalaya CEO FR Kharkongor by President Ram Nath Govind.

Uttar Pradesh emerged as a first state to have 2 airstrips on expressways for landing & take-off of fighter planes

Uttar Pradesh has built a new 3,300-metre-long airstrip. This has been constructed near Kurebhar on Purvanchal Expressway.

  • So that the state has become the first state in the country with two airstrips on expressways to facilitate emergency landing and take-off of fighter planes.
  • Another airstrip is located on Lucknow-Agra Expressway whereas the opposite is on Purvanchal Expressway

Padma Awards 2021 Announced – 119 people received Padma Awards on 72nd Republic Day

Every year on Republic Day 26.01.2021 the President of India distributes Padma Awards to the civilians of India. Padma Awards are given in three categories – Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, in decreasing order of importance.

  • In the year 2021, the President has approved conferment of 119 Padma Awards. Women awardees counts at 29.

Padma Vibhushan awards:

  • Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been awarded Padma Vibhushan for his achievement in the field of public affairs.
  • Noted singer SP Balasubrahmanyam has also received Padma Vibhushan awards.

Padma Bhushan Awards:

  • Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan (posthumous), former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi (posthumous) are among the ten recipients who have been awarded with Padma Bhushan this year.

Padma Shri Awards:

  • It is the fourth-highest civilian award of India after Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan. There are totally 102 people received padma shri award this year.
