National News

Periodic Labor Force Survey

  • Periodic Labor Force Survey was launched by National Statistical Office (NSO) in April 2017.
  • The main objective of the survey is to estimate the key employment and unemployment indicators in the short time interval of three months for the urban areas only in the ‘Current Weekly Status’ (CWS). These indicators are calculated based on the following Factors.
  • Worker Population Ratio
  • Labor Force Participation Rate
  • Unemployment Rate

Bilateral exercise ‘Naseem Al Bahr’

  • Indian Navy and Royal Navy of Oman participated in the 13th Edition of bilateral exercise ‘Naseem Al Bahr’ or Sea Breeze; the six-day long exercise was conducted off the coast of Oman.
  • The highlight of the exercise was participation of India’s guided missile stealth frigate, INS Trikand, offshore patrol vessel, INS Sumitra, and Maritime Patrol Aircraft Dornier. The first naval exercise between the two countries was conducted in 1993.

Constitution Day celebrations in Supreme Court

  • Constitution Day is celebrated on November 26 since 2015, to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.
  • On that day the Prime Minister will launch various new initiatives under the e-court project. The Project is an effort to provide services to litigants, lawyers and the judiciary through ICT enablement of courts.
Virtual Justice Clock It is a vital statistics of the justice delivery system at the Court level giving the details of the cases instituted, cases disposed and pendency of cases on day/week/month basis at the Court level.
JustIS mobile App 2.0, a tool available to judicial officers for effective court and case management by monitoring pendency and disposal of not only his court but also for individual judges working under them.
Digital court It is an initiative to make the court records available to the judge in digitized form to enable the transition to Paperless Courts.
S3WaaS Websites It is a cloud service developed for government entities to generate Secure, Scalable & Sugamya (Accessible) websites. It is multilingual, citizen friendly and divyang friendly.

World’s most popular leader’s list

  • US based consulting firm Morning Consult released the report of Global Leader Approval Ratings,The latest approval ratings are based on data collected from 16th to 22nd of november month 2022,
  • According to the report Prime Minister Narendra Modi become the world’s most popular leader with an approval rating of 77 percent. Mexico President Andrés Manuel López Obrador stands at second position and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at third position. And US President Joe Biden is placed at 9th position and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak among the 22 world leaders.

Self-driving bus experiment launched in South Korea’s capital

  • South Korea’s capital (Seoul) launched its first self-driving bus; the main aim is to make people feel more comfortable with driverless vehicles on the roads.
  • The bus uses cameras and lasers to navigate the way instead of expensive sensors, and also public can book a free seat through an app at two designated stops.

World’s most profitable companies ranking list

  • Apple has topped the list of the most profitable companies in the world with a profit of Rs 1.5 lakh per second.
  • Microsoft is second with a profit of 1.14 lakhs per second. Berkshire Hathaway and Alphabet, Google’s parent company, are next in line

1763 Crore Rights Program for Disabled Persons in Tamil Nadu

  • The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister launched the rights program for persons with disabilities at a cost of Rs 1,763 crore 19 lakhs with World Bank funding.
  • The program includes skill development and training for self-employment of persons with disabilities, vocational training, identification, selection and provision of social security and benefits to persons with disabilities and their families, caregivers through social registration system, and in the next 6 years, the program will be implemented in all districts.

6 passengers per ticket introduced in Bangalore

  • The metro train administration has introduced the facility of getting ticket through the ‘QR’ code in Bangalore on 1st November 2022.
  • After this, the metro administration is going to introduce the facility of traveling up to 6 people in a single ticket in the Bangalore metro trains. And this will come into effect from January 15, 2023 onwards.

Electric vehicle charging station inaugurated at Chennai Airport

  • Electric charging points for electric vehicles inside Chennai Airport were inaugurated by Director of Chennai Airport, Sarathkumar, Executive Director of Indian Oil Company, C.V.Asokan.
  • These electric charging points are developed with advanced technology. Therefore, the charging station can also be used through a cell phone app and RFID, a radio frequency identification line, and two charging points of 15 kilowatts and 7 kilowatts have been set up in the airport.

Digital India Startup Hub inaugurated in Karnataka

  • The Union Minister Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar inaugurated a Digital India startup hub at the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) centre at Davanagere, Karnataka.
  • This is the 63rd STPI centre in the country and the fifth in the Karnataka.

International Electro technical Commission (IEC) Vice Presidency chaired by India

  • India get the International Electro technical Commission (IEC) Vice Presidency and Strategic Management Board (SMB) Chair for the 2023-25 term by securing 90% of the votes cast by full members of IEC.
  • Indian representative Mr. Vimal Mahenduru will hold the post of Vice-Chairman of the International Electronic Technology Commission, The International Electro technical Commission serves as the international standard-setting body for electrical, electronic and related technologies.

Madras High Court Chief Justice T. Raja has been transferred to Rajasthan

  • A collegium headed by Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud was held in which the collegium recommended the transfer of 7 judges including Chief Justice T. Raja and Justice Velumani of Chennai High Court.
  • As the central government has approved the transfer of Madras High Court Chief Justice T. Raja to Rajasthan High Court, Paresh Upadhyay, who is the next senior judge, will take charge as the Madras High Court Chief Justice.

Discovery of 16th century Middle Stone sculpture near T.Kallupatti

  • A Mid Stone sculpture dating back to the 16th century AD has been found at Motagam area near T. Kallupatti in Madurai district.
  • Mid Stone has been planted in memory of the hero who died in the war and has been worshiped as a guardian deity, and this Mid Stone with male and female figures is 4 feet high and 2 feet wide.

Discovery of ancient Matheswari rock sculpture found near Thirukovilur

  • An ancient 9th and 10th century inscribed stone sculpture of Matheswari has been found in Tirukovilur area.
  • Also this idol is designed as a relief sculpture on a separate slab of stone. Its head is adorned with a karandamakudam and its neck is adorned with ornaments.

  • “Father of the White Revolution in India”, Dr. Verghese Kurien birthday is celebrating as National Milk Day and he also known as the Milkman of India.
  • The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying is celebrating the 101st birth anniversary, on that day the prestigious National Gopal Ratna Awards 2022 will also be conferred during the event and book on the life of Varghese Kurian and a booklet on Milk Adulteration is also to be released.
