Al-Mohed Al-Hindi 2023 joint naval exercise begins.

  • The Joint naval exercise “Al-Mohed Al-Hindi 2023” was launched on May 21 to enhance the growing defense cooperation between India and Saudi Arabia.
  • INS Tarkash and INS Subatra, the flagships of the Indian Western Naval Fleet, have visited Saudi Arabia’s “Al-Jubail” port for this exercise. This exercise is the 2nd edition of which the first edition was successfully conducted in 2021.

Union Minister Smriti Irani has inaugurated a women labour convention in Kerala.

  • Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani has inaugurated the “women labourers convention” organized by BMS Kerala Branch in Thiruvananthapuram.
  • Irani said that 13 percent of supervisor posts in the 33,000 Anganwadis across the state would be filled up and the Anganwadis in Kerala should be further modernized with the help of technology.

  • India will host the 44th edition of the International Organization (ISO) Committee on Consumer Policy (COPOLCO) from May 23 to 26.

  • Saudi Arabia’s First Lady Rayyanah Barnawi has traveled to the International Space Station (ISS) along with Saudi Ali Alqarni, US Commander Peggy Whitson and pilot John Shoffner.
  • A Falcon-9 rocket carrying a Dragon spacecraft lifts off from NASA’s Launch Complex 39A. Stem cell researcher Rayyanah Barnawi has gone into space with funding from the Saudi Arabian government.

Bangladesh-US Joint Naval Exercise 

  • The Bangladesh – US joint naval exercise ‘Tiger Shark 40’ began on May 21 in Chattogram, Bangladesh.
  • The objective of the exercise is to increase the strategic capabilities of the two countries and enhance mutual technology sharing and practical cooperation.

  • British Sikh councilor Jaswant Singh Birdie of Coventry, England, has made history by becoming the “First Turbaned Lord Mayor ” of central England.

  • Madhya Pradesh has become the first state in the country to offer free air travel to pilgrims under the Mukhyamantri Tirth-Darshan Yojana.

Papua Guinea highest Civilian award has been given to Prime Minister Modi.

  • Prime Minister Modi has been awarded Papua Guinea’s highest civilian award, the “Grand Companion of the Order of Lokohuwai” for his leadership in global South issues and for his struggle for the unity of Pacific Island nations.
